Global updates

New: Show/hide planned treatments on the odontogram

You can now view planned treatments from every active treatment plan together on the odontogram, instead of switching between plans to see the full picture. This makes chart review and treatment conversations faster and clearer when a patient has more than one active plan.

Click 'Show all plans on odontogram' in the charting options to display all planned and uncompleted treatments from all active plans together. Turning this off will show only planned treatments from the selected plan.

Treatment stacking and ordering on each tooth is unchanged. Planned items use your practice-level colour setting for uncompleted treatments.

New: % Bleeding on Probing (BOP) score on 6PP

When completing a six-pocket exam, you can now see a live % Bleeding on Probing (BOP) score displayed at the top of the Perio chart. This enables you to track overall periodontal health at a glance, without needing to count sites manually.

Scores exclude teeth that are not present. This is available now and will appear for all historic Perio exams as well.

New: Attach Dentally Vision images to emails and estimates

You can now attach Dentally Vision images to correspondences directly inside Dentally.

Select the images you need from an image picker when:

This is faster than downloading Vision images and attaching them manually, and it helps reduce mistakes when you want clinically relevant imaging in emails and estimates. AI detections cannot be attached at this stage; support for those images is planned for a future release.

New: 'Ready to book' toggle default

You now have the ability to set your 'Ready to book' toggle to on by default. This can be done in the practitioner settings, per practitioner.

We recommend leaving the toggle as is, as we have seen consistently improved booking conversions when the toggle is off by default. However the flexibility is now available for those who require it.

Improved: Customise base chart colour

You can now set a colour for all base chart items, so base charting stands out more clearly from the rest of the chart. This is set at the practice-level and applies to all users, making busy charts easier to read at a glance, including when you use condensed charting.

Improved: Break labels visible in the calendar

When creating schedules, any labels you add to your breaks will then display in the calendar, so it's immediately clear at a glance what each break is for, without having to hover.

Improved: Calendar date on login

When you log in, the calendar will now always open on todayโ€™s date. This aims to provide more consistency when you start your day, and to reduce the chance for confusion and date-related scheduling mistakes.

Once logged in, Dentally's normal logic will apply - whenever you come back to the calendar during your session, it will remember the last date you viewed. This new rule only applies when you log in.

Improved: Task list filters for what needs attention now

We've updated the task list so you can filter by what needs your attention now, such as tasks due today or marked urgent. That makes it quicker to narrow the list when you're working through tasks and identifying priorities.

Improved: Hide treatment and fees in estimates (CA/APAC only)

You can now set estimate templates to hide planned treatment and fees when needed, in your template settings. This is useful for practices who use estimates as nonโ€‘financial documents.

Improved: 'Integrations' changed to 'Marketplace'

In your settings, the 'Integrations' section has been renamed to 'Marketplace'. This is in preparation for exciting changes coming soon to how you access and manage your integrations. Find out more here.

Bug fix:

  • The 'Takings' export now sorts results chronologically instead of alphabetically by day name.

  • When using the 'Until' date picker in the 'Takings' report, you will be able to choose any date as expected, instead of being limited to today and the next three days.

  • When a Stripe payment has completed, the statuses will now update more quickly instead of staying on pending for longer than expected.

  • When booking an appointment, you can now consistently change the patient if needed, without having to cancel and start again.

  • If you select an unbooked appointment from the list when booking an appointment in the calendar, it will now automatically update the appointment duration to match that treatment duration every time, so you don't need to manually input the duration if it didn't pull through correctly.

  • Totals in the 'Payment Allocations' report and the 'Sundries' report will now always calculate correctly across all practitioners and sites.

UK/ROI updates

New: Miscellaneous Trauma Care Package for NHS Wales

We've added a Miscellaneous Trauma Care Package, so that trauma-related work doesn't go under the general miscellaneous package. This will show automatically when the 'Trauma Related Injury' treatment is charted.

Improved: Temporary crowns can have lab fees for NHS Wales

You can now add lab fees for temporary crown treatments. Temporary crowns can, with or without lab fees, can now be included in simple, extended restorative, and anterior and posterior root canal Care Packages.

Bug fix:

  • For Wales, now only NHS patients will show the NHS number reminder if a number is missing - it won't accidentally show for non-NHS patients.

  • For ROI users, when you change a PRSI claim status in the 'PRSI Claims' report, you will always be able to scroll to see the 'Save' button now, instead of it getting stuck and not displaying.

  • On NHS Wales treatment estimates for exempt patients, lab fees will no longer be included in the total and will show as ยฃ0 when the patient does not have to pay. Estimates will need to be updated/re-created if they were saved with the wrong values previously.

CA updates

New: Track Perio on a rolling basis

In the plan settings, you can now configure Perio treatment codes to renew on a rolling basis. Codes 11111โ€“11119 and 40000โ€“43699 can be edited in the plan settings to track on a rolling basis, so your coverage estimates more accurately reflect the patient's actual policy.

You can also set the coverage limits for these codes to display in the policy details for all patients with a relevant policy. This is also done in the plan settings.

Improved: Insurance policies can have five-year renewal

Previously, policy renewal periods were limited to annually/every two years, when the benefits reset. We have added a new option so renewal period can now be set to five years. This enables your data to match what patients are seeing, so estimates for remaining coverage will be more accurate.

Improved: Pending payments shown on statements

Any pending payments from insurance carriers now display in statements of account. Previously, pending payments weren't included, which could cause confusion and concern for patients thinking they owed more than they did.

Statements now clearly show where payments are expected and who they are expected from, ensuring patients are presented with more accurate information.

In addition, the summary box at the top has been expanded to break down what is included in this statement period.

Improved: Canadian terminology updates

  • Canadian users will no longer see the term "diary" in Dentally. All calendar settings have been updated for greater clarity and consistency, aligning more closely with regional language and practice expectations.

  • All instances of 'Discount' in Dentally have been updated to better reflect Canadian terminology and industry standards. This applies across all Dentally functions, including the 'Monthly Accounts' report. This is a label change only - no functionality or calculations are impacted.

Improved: Tooth and surface in appointment details and daylist

Tooth and surface details are now included:

This makes it easier for your team to prep and review the day at a glance, without opening each appointment/patient individually.

Improved: Partial EOBs now show on chart

In addition to being able to request a pre-determination for part of a treatment plan, EOBs (Estimation of Benefits) returned by those partial pre-determinations can now be displayed on the chart.

Items not covered by an EOB will use the policy estimates instead. EOBs are distinguished by a green dot, making it easy to see which treatment items haven't been estimated yet.

Bug fix:

  • On the 'Patients' report, combining multiple date ranges in the 'Account debt' filter will no longer erroneously omit patients who should have appeared; the list will consistently match the balances shown on screen.

  • In the 'Collections' report, insurance direct deposit totals on screen will now always match the printed amounts, instead of sometimes showing $0 on screen.

  • In the 'Monthly Accounts' report, Opening AR + Production - Collections totals will always match the Closing AR total.

  • In the 'Production' report, in some instances lab invoices were being counted twice, leading to duplicates. All procedures will now only be counted once.

  • On Canadian tax receipts, the 'Total paid' footer will now align with the listed transactions for the statement period, instead of following the closing balance if there was an opening balance; insurance payments remain excluded from the opening balance and from the listed lines.

  • The term 'Gingival Margin' had incorrectly reverted back to 'Recession'. This has been resolved and has returned to being displayed as intended.
