What settings can I access in the 'Other' tab in the practice settings?

You can manage security and IP restrictions, custom fields, custom email domains, currency, timezone and more.

  • Select the 'Settings' โš™๏ธ cog and click into 'Practice Settings'. You must have Level 4 (Administrator) permissions to alter practice settings.

  • Select the 'Custom Fields' tab.

'Security'

You can allow Dentally's support team to access your account remotely from here - if this is not enabled, our support team may be limited in how much they can help if you have an issue.

You can also restrict access by IP address.

๐Ÿšจ Important: If you apply restrictions here, and add an IP address that is not your own, you and anyone not on that IP address will be immediately logged out of Dentally.

  • IP restrictions can be applied to restrict Dentally access to known locations or networks only, meaning anyone not on your list of approved IPs cannot access your Dentally database.

  • This is especially useful for practices that want to prevent login attempts from untrusted locations.

  • Tick the checkbox to enable IP address restrictions.

  • Enter the public IP address(es) you'd like to whitelist (aka approve). You can find your IP at whatismyip.com. If you add an IP address that is not your own, you and anyone not on that IP address will be immediately logged out of Dentally.

  • You can then manage individual user restrictions via 'Settings' > 'Users'.

๐Ÿ“ Please note: You can whitelist up to 40 IP addresses.

'Custom Fields & Charting'

This section allows you to add two custom fields to your 'Details' tab, meaning you can record custom details alongside all pre-existing fields. You can also adjust the colour that uncompleted treatments will display as, and enable other settings.

๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: The two custom fields you add here will be visible within the 'Details' tab itself. You can also have unlimited additional custom fields, visible by opening the 'Custom Fields' menu in the 'Details' tab - these aren't immediately visible within the 'Details' tab itself, but allow you to record unlimited additional information if needed. These must be set up and managed in a different section of your settings.

  • Enter the name of each of your two custom fields. When they appear in the 'Details' tab, they will be blank text fields where you can enter a short line of text.

  • Select a colour for uncompleted treatments and click 'OK'.

  • You can enable ortho assessments, enable reassigning practitioner upon completion, and enable robust clinical notes locking using the tickboxes.

'Custom Email Domains'

You can set up your own custom email domains from here, if you are on a Dentally plan that includes this feature.

'Internationalisation' and 'Timezone'

You can set your currency and tooth notation preferences, and your timezone - these will apply throughout Dentally, for all users at your practice.

'Tax'

This section is region-specific. If you are in APAC or UK, you will see the option to enable GST or VAT.

If you are in Canada, you will not see any editable settings in this section.

'Payments'

The options available in this section will vary. You may see:

  • 'Enable payment locking' - Prevents deletion of payments created in the past (useful if you are a Xero user).

  • 'Enable automatic allocation of payments' - Enable auto-allocation for payments.

  • 'Assign payments to practitioners' - Select a practitioner when taking payment, in order to be able to report on this.

'Portal'

You can enable prefilling medical histories if you are a Portal user - this means that when patients receive a link to complete medical history via Portal, their previous answers will be auto-populated.

'Enable site restrictions'

If you are a multi-site, you can enable site restrictions to prevent users from viewing info at a site other than their own.
