How do I enable acquisition sources on Portal?

Whether you have existing sources or are creating new ones, you will need to make them visible on Portal.

You will see a question about showing the source in Dentally Portal - this question will always default to 'No' for both new and existing sources - so you'll need to make sure you change it to 'Yes'. If you don't, the source won't be visible in Portal.

To enable sources in Portal, follow these easy steps:

  1. Go to 'Settings' > 'Contacts' and click the 'Acquisition Source' tab.

  2. To update an existing source, click the pen icon ๐Ÿ“ on the far right. Under 'Show in Dentally Portal', change it to 'Yes'.

  3. To create a new source, click the '+ New' icon in the top right. Input the other information and then ensure that 'Show in Dentally Portal' is changed from 'No' to 'Yes'.

Once you've completed these steps, you're all set!

New patients will now be able to select which source attracted them to your practice, giving you a greater understanding of which marketing efforts are bringing in patients. Including the acquisition source on the record of every new patient that joins the practice will help you gain valuable insight.


What do patients see when asked for their acquisition source?

  • Once a new patient has signed up to your practice, they will be asked to provide personal information, which includes their acquisition source. This prompt will appear after they book an appointment, or whenever the patient logs into Portal.

  • They will click the 'Complete your details' button, and after providing personal info such as their address, they will see the question 'How did you hear about us?'.

  • Portal will automatically populate this question with your acquisition sources (as long as you have marked 'Yes' to 'Show in Dentally Portal' on each source).

  • Patients will select one of the sources, and this will later appear in their patient record - under the 'Details' tab, in the 'Practice and recalls' section on Dentally.

Gathering acquisition source data will help you to see how you're attracting patients, optimise marketing strategies and allocate your resources more effectively - giving you greater insight to improve your practice's growth through reporting.

With this new feature, patients can now select their own acquisition source when they sign up for your practice via Dentally Portal.
