When to update your Acquisition Agent

Users will automatically gain access to all features and improvements in a new Dentally Vision release, except those marked as โ€˜AA Update Requiredโ€™ in the latest technical changelog.

To benefit from these specific improvements, you must update the Acquisition Agent (AA). However, even without updating the AA, you will still enjoy all other updates and enhancements.

Follow the below instructions to update your Dentally Vision Acquisition Agent on the relevant machine, remember each computer you acquire images on will need this update.

Updating on a Mac

Instructions for MAC update:

  • Open the Acquisition Agent

  • Click on the Acquisition Agent in the top left of your mac

  • Open the Settings

  • Click on 'Check for updates'

  • If an update is needed, you will be prompted to either 'remind me later' or 'Download and install'

  • Click 'Download and Install'

  • When prompted click 'Install' and Enter your credentials.

  • Click 'Ok' when prompted for file access.

  • If prompted again enter your credentials.

  • Was installation is complete click 'Close'

Updating on Windows

Follow the video or see the written instructions underneath.

Instructions for Windows update:

  • Right-click the Acquisition Agent in your toolbar

  • Click on 'Check for updates'

  • If an update is needed, you will be prompted to either 'remind me later' or 'Download and install'

  • Click 'Download and Install'

  • The installation will automatically start in the background once the download is complete.

  • If prompted at any point during the update, you must enter your windows admin credentials to successfully complete the installation.


FAQ - Dentally Vision Error when updating, what should I do?

If you run into the following error when updating the Dentally Vision Acquisition Agent, you can troubleshoot this Windows error running the Acquisition Agent manually as administrator.

  • Navigate to the following location - C:\Program Files (x86)\Acquisition Agent

  • Right-click on the Acquisition Agent.exe and choose Run as administrator from the drop down list.

๐Ÿ’ก Top Tip - Make sure you are already logged into your Windows machine as an admin before doing this.

If you are not logged into Windows as an Admin you will need to enter your admin credentials. Please contact your IT for assistance if you are unsure of the Admin username and password.
