An acquisition source allows you to keep track of how you are attracting and sourcing new patients to your practice...
Including the acquisition source on the record of every new patient that joins the practice ensures that you can report on this data for greater insight on your patients and exactly how you are attracting them to your practice. We have a handy help guide here on how to do this analysis but first, let's learn how to add acquisition sources.
How to create new acquisition sources
Go to 'Settings' and click on 'Contacts'.
Click on 'Acquisition sources', and click the '+ New' button on the right-hand side to add new sources.
The 'New Acquisition Source' box will appear. Enter the description of the source under 'Name' (eg Instagram, printed flyer, family etc). If you are a Dentally Portal user, make sure you select 'Yes' against the 'Show in Dentally Portal' setting. The source will then display as an option to new patients when they sign up to your practice - if you don't, this source won't be available for them to choose from.
How to add a source to a new patient's record
By adding the acquisition source on Dentally Portal, you can gather this information from new patients when they book - and keep an eye on how many new patients from each source then book an appointment.
Patients can now select their own acquisition source when they sign up for your practice via Dentally Portal. Read our guide on how to enable acquisition sources on Dentally Portal here.
Then once you're all set up, learn how to use the 'Patients Report' to see which sources are most effective here.
Please note๐ก: Make sure you have set any new acquisition sources to 'Show in Dentally Portal' so that they're available for new patients to select.
How to add a source to an existing patient's record
Should you ever need to add or edit an acquisition source for an existing patient at your practice, so that it can be factored into your acquisition analysis, you can do this from the patient's record in Dentally.
It's easy to add or edit a source on an existing patient's record! Just go to the 'Details' tab on the patient's record.
Scroll down to the 'Practice and recalls' section and start to type in the source. As you begin to type, the sources you added using the steps above will appear as a dropdown, so you can select the one you want. You can only select sources you have already added - so you'll need to ensure you've done this first.
