What information is collected when booking an appointment online?
When a new patient goes to book an appointment on the Patient Portal, they will be asked to provide their patient details in two stages.
Stage 1 - Before booking the appointment, they will need to provide just the essential personal information that you need to identify and stay in contact with them. They'll be asked to provide:
Name
Date of birth
Mobile number
Marketing consent
This simplified sign-up process makes it quick and easy for the patient to book - increasing online sign-ups and reducing administrative time spent on telephone bookings.
๐ Please note: Portal requires a valid mobile number to verify when a patient is logging in. This adds an extra level of security for patient data. It is not possible to use a landline instead.
Stage 2 - Once they have booked an appointment and provided the initial information, a patient will be prompted to provide other personal details through the Patient Portal action cards. This is where they will be asked for information like:
Address
Email address
Acquisition source
๐ก Top tip: We've streamlined the form-filling process even more by adding address look-up for UK patients ๐ (currently only available in the UK ๐ฌ๐ง) - all they'll need to do is start typing in their address or postcode and a dropdown list of addresses will appear for them to choose from.
Once the patient has provided all this information, it will instantly pull through to the patient's 'Details' screen on Dentally.

What will patients see when they provide personal information in Portal?
This feature will present to patients as a 'Complete your details' action card on their home screen straight after booking an appointment.
For existing patients who are missing details, they will be prompted via an action card when they log into their Dentally Portal account.
All they have to do is click the action card, provide the information requested and click 'Continue' - then the 'Complete your details' card will show as completed with a green tick โ

What will I see when a patient completes their details?
To view what's been changed after a patient completes their details, you can view the 'Audit' tab in the patient's record and click 'View change(s)'.
