๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: It's essential to understand marketing consent when sending marketing emails.

Can I send marketing emails to patients who've opted in?

You may want to send out marketing emails to your patients to keep them informed about new services or reminders.

Under GDPR rules, in order to receive marketing emails, your patients MUST have actively provided consent to receive marketing information from you.

You can record whether a patient has given consent in the patient's 'Details' tab.

Additionally, to comply with regulations and to ensure emails are not blocked by email providers such as Google, all marketing email communications MUST include an unsubscribe option. In order to ensure unsubscribe links are added to marketing emails, you must enable the 'Marketing' flag on any email template you use for marketing.

This will ensure that the email sent complies with this regulation. If you send marketing emails without this flag on, you risk having all emails blocked or further sanctions.

You can generate a list of all patients who have opted into marketing emails using the 'Patients' report.

  • Set the filters to:

    • Active > Is Active (this is already set by default)

    • Marketing > Is true

    • Receive email > Is true

  • Save your segment - you can then use this to send bulk messaging to all patients who have consented. Ensure the template you use has been marked as a marketing email so the unsubscribe feature is visible.

  • We will block you from sending emails marked as marketing to patients who have not given marketing consent, even if they are in the list you send to.

  • You can adjust the email address marketing emails are sent from if you wish - under 'Settings' > 'Site'.
