Can I stop and then restart sending automated recalls?

It is possible to turn off automated recalls, and then reenable them at a later date. You will need Level 4 user permissions to do this.

๐Ÿ“ Please note: This will result in a backlog of patients who are now due/overdue while the automated recalls were disabled, so when you restart the automation, it will work through the backlog in addition to new recalls that are generated.

To disable automated recalls:

  • Open the 'Settings' menu โš™๏ธ

  • Under 'Practice', go to 'Recalls'.

  • Ensure 'Enable automation?' is unticked, and click 'Save' - to halt patients currently in a workflow.

  • Ensure 'Enable recalls?' is unticked, and click 'Save' - to halt the creation of new recalls.

๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: We recommend disabling each setting in this order specifically, rather than the other way around - to ensure the system manages your recalls smoothly.

You can then enable recalls and enable recall automation whenever you need. When the system is told to start sending recalls again, any patients that are overdue for recall will be picked up and placed back on the automated workflow.

What happens when you restart automated recalls after pausing them?

Once automated recalls are re-enabled:

  • New recalls will be produced for patients who are now due or overdue.

  • The new recalls are calculated outside of office hours on Mondays, so the next time recalls will be added to the list will be the following Monday after you re-enabled them.

  • The automated messages will then start sending according to your automated workflows.

  • There will be a backlog of recalls. Automated recalls are capped to a certain amount each day, during opening hours. If the amount on a given day exceeds the cap, there will be a backlog, alongside new recalls being generated.
