๐Ÿ“ Please note: This article relates to editing a practitioner in the UK/ROI. See relevant articles for editing a practitioner in APAC and Canada.

How do I add a new practitioner?

  • Fill the required information into the pop-up box:

    • User - select the correct user from the dropdown (if you have already added them)

    • Colour - appointments will appear in this colour in the practitioner's column (if colour preferences in the calendar are set to 'Practitioner')

    • NHS number - visible to UK NHS practices only

    • GDC number

    • Dental care professional type

    • Calendar position

    • Personal numberย

    • Personal PIN

    • Location - visible to multi-sites only

    • Default NHS contract - visible to UK NHS practices only

  • You can also choose to set the 'Ready to book' toggle to 'On' by default. This is not recommended, as having the toggle off by default consistently leads to improved booking conversion.

๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: If you set a user as a practitioner, when they access any patient's record it will open on the 'Chart' tab by default. If a user is not a practitioner, it will default to the 'Details' tab when you open a patient.

๐Ÿ“ Please note: Foundation dentists will need to have a new practitioner profile created if they are going to continue practising as an associate at the same dental practice.

How do I edit or update a practitioner's profile?

To make changes to a practitioner, such as calendar position, colours and NHS details:

  • If the user is already set up, go to 'Settings' and then select 'Users'.

  • Go to the 'Practitioners' tab and find the practitioner whose profile you wish to edit.

  • Click the pencil ๐Ÿ“ icon to the far right of the relevant practitioner.

  • In the window that opens, edit the fields as needed.

  • When you are ready, click 'Save' to ensure your changes are saved.

You can use the practitioner settings to edit whether a practitioner is active or inactive - this field will only be visible when editing an existing practitioner, not when creating a new practitioner.

๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: You can't change the practitioner's name from the practitioner settings. To do this, go to the user settings ('Settings' > 'Users' > 'Practitioners'), select the practitioner and edit their name there (level 4 permissions are required).
