How do I acquire images with the Shining 3D scanner?

The Shining 3D software bridge lets you connect your Shining 3D CAD/CAM intra-oral scanner to Dentally Vision, so you can capture and save scans directly to a patient's exam.

๐Ÿšจ Important: This integration is only supported on Windows machines and is not currently available on Macintosh devices.

Before you begin:

  • Your Shining 3D scanner device must already be configured and working in the Shining 3D software on the computer you'll use to scan.

  • The Acquisition Agent must be installed on the computer you'll use to scan.

  • You'll need an active Shining 3D account and your login credentials to hand before you begin.

To acquire a scan:

  • Open the patient's exam in Dentally Vision and navigate to the 'CAD/CAM Scan' option in the Imaging Procedures List.

  • Select 'Shining 3D Software' in the 'Device List'.

  • Click 'Start'.

  • When the Shining 3D software opens, log in with your Shining 3D account credentials.

  • If you're asked to attribute the order to an existing patient, click 'Yes'.

This will return you to the patients record in Dentally Vision where you can assign the scans to the correct slots to complete the patient's exam. The scan will not be saved until this step is done.

Troubleshooting Shining set-up:

  • If a device isn't working within the Shining 3D software itself, this needs to be resolved with Shining 3D Support rather than Dentally support.

  • All acquisition devices must be set up and functioning in the Shining 3D software before you start - Dentally Vision doesn't configure devices on your behalf.
