Why are there two views in Vision

In Dentally Vision you can choose between two workflows so you can view images the way that best suits you:

  • Exam View - the more traditional exam-based workflow.

  • Modality View (aka SuperFMX) - organised by image type (modality) and designed for flexible, anatomy-based use.

You can switch any time and the system will remember your choice for next time.

How to switch views

  1. Load the patientโ€™s images in Dentally Vision by selecting it from the patients chart of 'Cloud Gallery' and click the 'Settings' โš™๏ธ icon.

  2. Tick (or untick) the option 'Use Modality View' and click 'Confirm'

  3. Thatโ€™s it! Your chosen view will stick for future sessions.

๐Ÿ“ Please note If you want to use AI features in Modality View, make sure 'Load full size images in templates' is also ticked in these settings.

What youโ€™ll find in Modality View

When you pick Modality View (SuperFMX), the left-menu will show tabs for each image type (โ€œmodalityโ€). Examples:

  • Intraoral X-ray โ€“ default shows FMX 18 Anatomical View; option to switch to FMX 21, Tiled View, or Flipped View.

  • Intraoral Color โ€“ similar options as above.

  • Extraoral X-ray โ€“ chronological tiled view of extraoral images.

  • Extraoral Color โ€“ same style for colour images.

  • 3D Volumes / CBCT โ€“ timeline of 3D scans.

  • CAD/CAM / IOS โ€“ timeline of CAD/CAM or IOS images.

  • Overview โ€“ a snapshot of all modalities for the patient.

Customising your Modality View

You can tailor how the images are shown for your workflow:

  • While in Modality View, click the three-dot Preferences icon next to 'Intraoral X-ray' or 'Intraoral Color' in the left menu under the 'Images' tab.

  • Choose your settings:

    • Set View: Anatomical or Tiled

    • Choose Preference: FMX 18 or FMX 21

    • Tick whether you want a Flipped View

  • Click Confirm to save your changes.

Navigating in Modality View

  • If an image has a yellow box around it, this means there are multiple images available for that position.

  • Click the yellow-boxed image to open a film-strip of all related images.

  • Select an image to open it in the viewer.

  • To go back to the Anatomical or Tiled layout, click the 'two block' button in the top-right corner of the viewer.

๐Ÿ’กTop Tip - To simplify your view, especially when there are lots of images stacked and lots of yellow outlines, you can use 'Light Box' mode: click the eye icon in the bottom-left of the main Modality View panel to toggle it on/off.
