What is an image conversion to Dentally Vision?

Image conversion to Dentally Vision means transferring your existing patient images—including supported edits—into the Dentally system. We aim for a high-quality transfer, but the accuracy depends on the quality of your original imaging data. Any unverified records will be listed in a report, so you can review and manage them easily.

Am I eligible for an image conversion?

You can use this service if:

  • Your practice is already using Dentally Vision.

  • Your previous digital imaging (DI) software was connected to Dentally or another practice management system (PMS).

🚨 Important: Any images added to your old system after the conversion starts will not be transferred. Make sure your team stops using the old software once we begin extracting your data.

What is the image conversion process

  1. Accessing Your Old Imaging System – We obtain a copy of all stored images.

  2. Processing Images – Our tools process and transfer as many edits and enhancements as are compatible with Dentally Vision.

  3. Matching Images to Patient Records – Verified images are moved into Dentally.

  4. Handling Unverified Images – Images that cannot be matched are recorded in a report for manual review.

Why some images might not transfer?

Some images may not transfer due to:

  • Unsupported image formats.

  • Mismatched patient names between the original DI software and Dentally.

  • Patient files without attached images.

  • Possible but uncertain matches.

  • No corresponding patient record found in Dentally.

What happens to these images?

  • Verified Images – Successfully transferred and linked.

  • Unverified Images – Not transferred, but listed in a report for manual review.

What’s Included & Excluded in the Conversion?

Included:

  • Inventory of all accessible images and their locations.

  • Migration of all verified images with matching patient records in Dentally.

  • A report of unverified records for customer review.

  • Recommendation to retain a copy of the original imaging database for future reference.

Excluded:

  • Images from DI software that was not previously bridged or linked to a PMS.

  • Unsupported annotations or manipulations.

  • Enhancements to image quality.

  • Renamed, moved, or copied images that cannot be identified programmatically.
