πŸ”œ Coming Soon: Brand new appointment finder tool

We’ll soon be bringing you an exciting update – a brand new booking search tool! This handy tool will make it easier to find available slots in the calendar when booking an appointment, saving you time and making for a smoother booking experience. One of the key improvements will be the ability to search by zone – making it easier to include or exclude certain zones when finding a slot.

This new tool is currently in Beta testing – if you’d like to try it, sign up for the trial via the support chat! Please note the trial is currently only available to high street practices with no more than three sites.

πŸ†• New: Grouping zones to aid booking search

To get the most out of the brand new booking tool when it launches, you will need to group your zones (previously called sessions).

Zone grouping means that if you have multiple zones serving a similar purpose (such as having several related to emergencies), you can group them together. When you then search for β€˜Emergencies’ slots with the new tool, all your relevant zones will be included.

We recommend grouping your zones now so that when the new booking tool launches, you’re ready to use it straightaway! Read our detailed guide on grouping zones here.

🌟 Improved: Payment allocations filtering for multi-sites

As previewed in last month's Changelog, multi-site customers will now see an additional 'For allocation' filter on the 'Payment Allocations' report, and a second table on the 'Payment Allocation Totals' report which identifies times when money taken at one site was used to pay for treatments at another. This has now been rolled out to all multi-site customers.

By using this filter, you can quickly identify these payments and ensure accurate accounting, so practitioners correctly receive payment for all treatments performed, regardless of where the payment was made.

🌟 Improved: Clinical notes recovery

We know the accuracy of your clinical notes is of utmost importance. Thanks to our notes recovery feature, if you have closed or moved away from a treatment with unsaved notes items, we store those notes and remind you the next time you open the treatment.

We have improved this feature to give a preview of the recovered notes we have found, so you can choose to keep or discard these recovered notes as required. Recovering or discarding these recovered notes can now also be undone, if discarded by mistake.

πŸ› Bug Fix: We've fixed an issue where newly created zones were not being displayed in the appointment calendar correctly.

UK-specific πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

πŸ†• New: Supporting NHS Scotland's SDR 2023 Phase 2

Dentally is compliant with the new NHS Scotland changes, where NHS Scotland now requires material codes for some treatments, and patient health information when an exam has been completed.

🌟 Improved: Payment allocations available for all users

While the β€˜Payment Allocations’ report is the recommended method to pay providers, we know that some practices prefer to assign payments to your providers manually and so opted not to use this report. With our latest update, you will now be able to access, use and benefit from the β€˜Payment Allocation’ report whilst still being able to assign your payments to a provider! πŸŽ‰

The report will be turned on for all users in the coming weeks and for those already using it, your workflows will remain the same. Plus, assigning your payments to a provider will be completely optional.

Keep an eye out in your β€˜Reports’ menu for the updated allocations report coming soon. If you want to get started early, please reach out to us via the support chat.

CA-specific πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ†• New: Brand new β€˜Account’ section

We've built a new β€˜Account’ screen in the patient’s record! From here it is easy to manage the patient’s balance, payments and invoices, as well as creating family accounts where needed.

This makes it considerably easier to see a summary of a patient’s account, as well as other benefits including taking payments for multiple patients in a family in one go - saving you time and reducing your workload. This will be available soon, so if you can’t see it yet, you will do soon.

πŸ†• New: Pending payments and patient/insurance split

The new accounts system makes it much simpler to understand the split between patient and insurance portions of invoices. A pending payment can be applied to an invoice that marks some amount of the remaining balance as being owed by an insurance carrier. This makes it easier to see and charge only the patient's portion.

🌟 Improved: Updates to coverage estimations

  • Labs are now included. When charting treatments, the patient's insurance coverage is now shown alongside any labs entered in addition to all other treatment items.

  • Substituted treatment codes are now considered in coverage estimates. If a treatment item is charted and the patient's insurance plan has a substitute code for it, the estimated coverage will reflect the substitute code instead of the charted one.

AU-specific πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

πŸ†• New: Apply discounts after payment

We've added the ability to apply discounts to invoices after claiming or after a payment has been applied - which reduces the need to cancel and resubmit claims if a discount or adjustment was missed initially. This can be performed from the patient's 'Account' tab. Discounts up to the remaining balance of the invoice can be added.

Dentally Portal πŸ“²

πŸ”œ Coming Soon: Moving domain to portal.dental

We are excited to announce that we are moving our domain from dentr.net to portal.dental! No action will be required from you for now, as all existing links to dentr.net will be automatically redirected for at least 12 months, ensuring patients will have continuous access without interruption.

This will create a more trustworthy and reliable service for patients, better reflecting our focus on dental services – plus it is a more relevant and memorable name, making it easier for patients to remember.

We will provide guides to help you update your dentr.net links soon.
