Adding Labs to a treatment item in Dentally is now possible in Canada! π¨π¦
After charting a treatment item on your plan, you can click the item to expand - where you can then enter any notes, change item details and add your labs π
Follow the steps below π
How do I add a lab?
On the patient's page, go to the 'Chart' tab.
In the 'Appt' section, click the > symbol to expand the correct appointment, and go to the 'Labs' tab.
The 'Lab' field will be empty by default - use the drop-down to select the lab service needed, and enter any fees in the 'Price' box to the right.
When you're ready, click 'Charge' at the bottom when you're ready.
If needed, you can add additional labs by clicking '+ Add lab' and following the steps above, and you can use the trash can icon ποΈ to delete a lab code if incorrectly added.
Should you need to edit the price at a later date, you can quickly and easily do this by clicking on the fee on the right-hand side of the item. This will allow you to type in a new fee without going all the way back into the item.

You can only add a maximum of 2 labs, in line with the rules imposed by CDAnet.
Where will my labs show once added?
After adding lab items, these will show on your chart screen underneath the relevant treatment items. Once added to the chart, labs will also show on any predeterminations, invoices and claims, as shown in the demonstration video at the top.
Its also handy to note that Labs copy across when you clone treatment plans, and are included on your estimates!
Reporting on Labs?
You can use the filters on the following reports to either 'include', 'exclude' or 'show only lab fees':
Production
Payment Allocations
Payment Allocations Totals
Practitioner Allocations reports.
How do I add a lab after the treatment has already been charged?
In the 'Account' tab, delete the invoice for the date / treatment in question.
Go back to the chart, select that appointment and uncheck 'Completed' tick box on the far right.
Click on the > symbol to the left of the date to expand the treatment.
Go to the 'Labs' tab, click on 'Add lab', following the steps above to add a lab code and price.
Re-mark the treatment as 'Completed' by checking the tick box on the far right, as shown in the screenshot above.
Click the 'Charge' button at the bottom.
A new invoice for this treatment will now be available in the 'Account' screen
