Why am I seeing the 'bridge overlap' screen?

When you open the imaging bridge for a patient, Dentally will check if the patient at the current site has a Bridge ID assigned to them. This is the ID used to send the patient through to your third-party imaging software.

If there is NO Bridge ID assigned to a patient at the current site - before sending them to your third-party software, Dentally will run a lookup on your database in order to assign this patient a brand new bridge ID.

Bridge IDs are created from the patient's ID; However, If Dentally detects that the patient's ID/Bridge ID could clash with other patients in your database, you will be presented with the overlap screen.

This screen allows you the opportunity to check the images the bridge will open and assign the new patient a completely new Bridge ID if needed. This will give them a brand new ID different to that of all the patient IDs/Bridge IDs that currently exist in your database, removing the risk of incorrectly assigned images later down the line.

๐ŸšจImportant: Should you choose to create a new file and therefore assign the patient a new ID, this new folder WILL NOT contain any images previously captured!

How to use the imaging bridge overlap workflow?

Open the Bridge:

  • Locate and open the patient on Dentally then click the Dentally Imaging Bridge icon located amongst your Chrome extension buttons.

Detect Overlaps:

  • The imaging bridge will now run a quick check to see if the patient ID overlaps with any others amongst the practice.

  • If there is NO overlap with another patient's record, the third-party software will open as usual and you can proceed to take/review images as needed.

  • If there IS AN overlap, you will see a pop up letting you know there is an overlap. You MUST acknowledge this overlap to continue.

Verify the patient record:

  • After clicking 'Continue', you will be prompted to check and confirm if the images that have been opened in your third-party software are the current patients images.

  • DO NOT CLOSE THIS PROMPT BEFORE CHECKING YOUR IMAGES.

๐Ÿšจ Important! This involves looking at the individual images and checking the patient name assigned rather than just the folder name that the bridge has opened.

For example; In Examine pro, we can hover the mouse over the images in question to see if they are assigned to a different patient to that listed in the folder name.

Resolving the Overlap:

  • If the correct folder has been opened, you can click 'Yes' and proceed to take/review images as needed.

  • If the folder is incorrect, return to Dentally immediately. Use the open prompt box in Dentally to select 'No'.

  • A new unique ID will be added to the patient to avoid any future conflicts. And you will be presented with the message below.

  • You can now proceed to open the Software Bridge again and continue to acquire images with a new empty folder.
