Some of your Imaging Bridge Install FAQ's answered โœ…

How do I determine my Imaging software path?

This is the path where the program you wish to link to is installed. Select third-party software will recommend a default software path for you to use on the right-hand side of the 'Options' screen.

Please keep in mind that your setup may vary from this path, and therefore, the defaults may not always be suitable for you.

To find the specific location path where your third-party program is installed:

  • Right-click on the icon for the imaging program. (Right-click on what you usually click on to launch your imaging software).

  • Select 'Properties'.

  • The path you need is then listed under 'Start In'.

  • Copy this path into the 'Imaging Software Path' field in the extension options.

  • Remember to remove the surrounding quotations!

If you are still unsure where your third-party imaging software is installed, please reach out to your IT department for further assistance before contacting the Dentally support team.

๐Ÿ“ Please note: You must first install the Dentally Software Bridge and Chrome Extension to be able to set your image path, ID field and storage location. For help setting up and installing your Imaging Bridge click here.

How do I determine which ID Field to use?

The ID you select here will determine which patient ID is sent from Dentally to the imaging software to link the two files together.

If the imaging software has been previously linked to another practice management system, we recommend using legacy ID to avoid creating duplicate patients, otherwise you can use the Dentally ID.

How do I know what my Storage Location Path should be?

This is where the program stores the images it creates. This is usually in a location all computers on the network have access to, such as a networked hard drive or server. It varies between systems but is usually decided when the imaging software was installed by a technician from the imaging company. Depending on the software you may be able to locate it by browsing the programโ€™s settings or searching for images on the computer/network.

How to connect multiple Imaging Bridges to Dentally?

  • Right-click on the Dentally Imaging Bridge Chrome extension.

  • Click on 'Options'.

  • Click 'Add New Bridge'.

  • Same as when you added your first one, you will need to choose your desired third-party imaging software from the drop-down list.

  • Then set your ID field, Software path and Storage location path as needed.

  • Then click 'Save'.

When multiple bridges are installed, clicking on the tooth icon in the address bar of Chrome to launch the bridge will instead reveal multiple icons, one for each of the installed bridges. Simply select the icon of the program you wish to open.
