NHS CCN63 comes into effect on 1st April, allowing other* Dental Care Professionals to submit FP17 claims in their own name π
*This change will support dental care professionals (DCPs) of types, Clinical Dental Technician, Dental Hygienists and Dental Therapists.
DCPs of the required types will be allocated their own personal ID. These can be added to NHS contracts as clinicians, in the same way that dental performers are added.
They will be allocated PINs by the NHS to transmit claim files.
We have made changes to the 'Practitioner Settings' screens in Dentally to assist in setting up the requirements for DCPs to submit claims from 1st April 2024.
π‘ Important to note that the DCP's 'Personal Number' and 'PIN' have been relabelled by the NHS, and therefore Dentally has reflected this change in the Practitioner settings menu.
Where to add new DCP details in Dentally
These can be found in Settings > Users > Practitioners and accessed by users with Level 4 permissions.
Simply click the 'Edit' button to the right of the provider you wish to add the details for.
Choose the 'Dental care professional type' from the drop-down menu and type in the DCP's 'Personal Number' and 'Personal Pin'
π‘Remember, a 'GDC number' is still required where the DCP is submitted as an assistant on the claim!
For the Relevant DCP types, a 'Personal Number' and 'PIN' are also required in order to submit claims in there own name.
Only DCP types of Clinical Dental Technician, Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist are allowed to submit claims in their own name.
Where the DCP type 'Dental Nurse' is selected, a 'Personal number' and 'PIN' is not relevant and so these inputs are restricted to avoid claim rejections, see the example text below when 'Dental Nurse' is selected.
DCP Practitioners who require the ability to submit claims but who do not have a practitioner entry already configured will require a practitioner to be set up and configured first. Take a read of our help article here for instructions on setting this up.
