It is recommended that you start the upgrade process when you aren't busy on the front desk. This could be during the dentist's lunch break, close of business, or on an admin day. The overall process should take only 5-10 minutes in total, and will need to be completed on all computers with HICAPS Connect.
Upgrade Steps
Review instructions in full before starting the upgrade process.
Download the HICAPS Connect Version 4 installer by clicking the following link: HICAPS Connect v.4.0.0.3
Save your work and close all programs as it will be necessary to reboot your computer during the HICAPS Connect upgrade process.
Close HICAPS Connect from your windows task bar.
If a blue popup is displayed, stating the installer is untrusted, click the “More info” link, then click the “Run anyway” button.
If the Windows UAC popup is displayed, proceed by accepting.
The installer will detect and begin to uninstall older versions of HICAPS Connect, select “OK” to continue.
Stopping and uninstalling services may take a few minutes…
Reboot as requested to complete uninstallation of old version.
Upon your computer restarting, the installer will automatically continue with installing the new version of HICAPS Connect. Review and accept the license agreement to proceed.
During the installation, a popup may appear to inform you that one of the components is already installed. This is normal and you can safely ignore this prompt by pressing the “Close” button.
After the installation is complete, you will be required to reboot one final time.
After the final reboot, you will be presented with the EULA Terms of Use to review and accept.
This concludes the HICAPS Connect upgrade process.
Verify Successful Upgrade of HICAPS Connect
Please conduct the following tasks to verify the successful upgrade of HICAPS Connect so that there are no unexpected issues when your practice re-opens.
Check that the HICAPS Connect icon is visible from your task bar or system tray app.
If the HICAPS Connect icon is not visible, search for the application using your windows search bar and click to open.
Once open, check that the HICAPS Connect version starts with 4.0.0.1. This is visible from the top right-hand corner of the application. The version number may include a letter (e.g., a or b), this is normal. If the version number is not 4.0.0.1, please contact Dentally Support team.
