How to apply a status to a treatment item?
Navigate to 'Settings' and 'Treatments & Plans'
Select the treatment service you wish to apply the setting to.
Select the correct status from the 'Tooth Status' list, then click 'Save'.
๐ Please note: Tooth status actions can only be applied to treatments which are applied to specific teeth. This is where the treatment 'Region' is set to 'Tooth', 'Site on Tooth' or 'Surface'.
What is a Tooth Status?
The Tooth Status option is a setting against each treatment services item. It allows you to describe how this treatment affects the tooth it is charted on.
If charted as a base item the tooth status will update immediately, If charted as part of a treatment plan, the tooth status will only be updated once the treatment has been marled as complete.
For treatments such as 'Extractions' and 'Implants' using tooth status' are the optimal way to chart.
By setting the tooth status you can affect which teeth are present in both the Graphical and Perio chart.
Keep in mind that not every treatment that is applied to a tooth requires a tooth status action - for example, fillings, inlays, etc. These should show as an icon on a tooth, but do not need to indicate the presence or other status of the tooth.
Tips for using Tooth statuses
When to use tooth status...
Tooth status should be set for treatments which affect whether a tooth is present. These can be either Base Charting diagnoses, or a specific treatment carried out on a tooth. Some examples of this are:
Treatment Service | Tooth Status Action |
Base chart: Missing Tooth | Missing |
Base chart: Unerupted or Exfoliated tooth | Unerupted |
Base chart: Partially Erupted | Partially Erupted |
Base chart: Reset Tooth / Erupted | Present |
Extraction | Extracted |
Base chart: Retained Root | Retained Root |
Surgical Coronation of tooth | Retained Root |
Placement of Implant | Replaced |
When tooth status is implied...
Where the presence of a treatment that is charted indicates the original status of a tooth, this should be specifically charted and not implied by the current treatment.
For example, While the presence of a Denture may indicate the underlying tooth is missing, The Denture treatment itself should not set the tooth status. Instead the tooth should be explicitly marked as missing in the base chart or by a previously completed extraction before charting the Denture over the top.
