What is the 'Audit' tab?
The 'Audit' tab allows users with Level 4 Access to view all activity on a patientโs account. To access the audit trail for a patient:
Open a patient's record in Dentally.
Navigate to the 'Audit' tab. Here you will see your general audit - if you are a Dentally Vision user, you will also see a tab for the Dentally Vision audit.

How does the general audit trail work?
The 'Audit' tab contains a list of all actions taken which relate to the patient you are viewing. If you can also see the 'Dentally Vision' audit trail, this pertains to all the patient's imaging activity.
๐ก Top tip: Click 'View changes' on any entry to see what it was before and what it has been changed to.
Both tabs are broken down by:
Audit ID and ID: Unique identifiers for each activity - the 'Audit ID' is specific to that entry line in the list, while the 'ID' relates to the item the audit relates to (eg. an appointment), and so would be the same for any entries pertaining to that item. You can make a note of the ID to track changes across Dentally
When: The date the action occurred
Who: The user responsible for the action
What: The object involved in the action (not visible in the 'Dentally Vision' audit)
Action: Type of action performed (eg. created, updated, deleted)
View changes: Details of changes made
๐ Please note: You may see a practitioner named 'System practitioner' appear in the audit trail. This is a system user that Dentally uses to perform the age-based predictive dentition on new patients.
You can use filters to narrow down the list. If you can also see the 'Dentally Vision' audit trail, the filters for this section may vary.
Click the 'Audit trail' filter to select a specific user and view all actions performed by them.
Select the 'All actions' filter to show only a certain type of action (eg. created, updated, deleted).
Click 'All objects' to select a particular type of entry such as appointments or emails.
Use the date range to view only a specific time period.
When you have applied filters, you can use the 'Export selection' button to export the currently filtered view of the audit trail.
๐ก Top tip: The statuses in the 'Action' column are colour-coded:
Green: 'Created', new items eg. new email generated.
Blue: 'Updated', modifications to existing items, eg. appointment moved.
Red: 'Deleted', full deletion.
