What is a treatment plan template?
A treatment plan template or a dental charting template is a treatment plan that is pre-created by you and can be applied to any patient.
Treatment plan templates provide a way of charting multiple treatments and appointments for a patient with a single click. This can save you considerable time if you often chart complex and long-term treatments.
In addition, they will ensure consistency across larger practices and groups, allowing the same procedures to be used for each type of treatment plan.
๐ Please note that before you start using treatment plan templates, you need to set them up! Visit our dedicated help article here on how you can create your own or shared treatment plan templates.
How to use treatment plan templates
Templates can be used in two ways:
You can use them to start an entirely new treatment plan.
Or you can use them to add additional appointments to an already open plan.
In the chart screen, click on the 'Plan Templates' tab next to the 'Treatment List'.
This will list all of the previously saved templates. These can be searched, set as favourites or browsed by treatment category in the same way as your treatments list.
To add the template to an existing treatment plan, click the '+' icon to the right of the template name.
To create a new treatment plan from the template, double-click on the template name.
You can add as many treatment plan templates as you like to an existing plan using the '+' icon.
After adding/creating a treatment plan template against a patient, you can continue to edit and adjust the treatment plan as normal.
How to chart tooth-specific items using a treatment plan template
If your treatment plan template includes items that need to be charted against a tooth, you will be prompted to choose which tooth each item should be attributed to when adding/creating a course of treatment from a treatment plan template. Any uncharted items on the applied template will be listed to the left of the chart.
How to chart these items:
Click on the appropriate teeth/surfaces for the first code listed, using right click to select multiple surfaces as normal if required.
This row will then disappear from the list and the next item will be highlighted blue, ready for you to chart this on the appropriate tooth...
Once all the items have been charted in this way, this list will disappear entirely, and additional treatments can be chosen from the treatments list as normal if required.
