Do I need to do anything right now?
Existing partners will be required to complete an account review before access to the NextGen APIs can be provided.
If you are not an official Dentally partner, please apply online to be considered for NexGen API access.
Will my existing integration with Dentally stop working?
No. However, you'll need to migrate to the NexGen APIs eventually, including moving to new endpoints and OAuth2 authentication. Documentation, onboarding guidance and sandbox access are provided by our Partnerships team once you've completed an account review or have become a verified Dentally Partner.
What is an account review?
An account review confirms your contract is up to date and the data access your integration needs, ahead of NexGen API access being granted.
We'll be emailing approved partners throughout July and August with details on how to complete yours.
How do I get sandbox access to start using and testing the new NexGen APIs?
Once you've completed your account review, our Partnerships team will grant you sandbox access. Use this to test authentication, validate endpoints and build out your integration in a controlled environment.
How do I progress from sandbox into production?
Send us a screen recording of your product working with Dentally in the sandbox environment. Email this to partnerships@dentally.com with the subject '[Partner Name] - Sandbox Demo'. Once this, along with any other launch requirements, has been reviewed, our Partnerships team will supply your production API credentials.
Should I move from the v1 APIs to the NexGen APIs now?
Yes, we'd encourage every partner to move across as soon as possible. The NexGen APIs offer a more secure, reliable and stable integration, along with an improved experience for our practices.
How long will the v1 APIs continue to run?
Both suites will run in parallel until the NexGen APIs reach full feature parity with v1, targeted for the end of 2026.
Why is Dentally making these changes?
The NexGen APIs provide a more secure, scalable and reliable foundation for integrations, while improving long-term performance, data control and platform stability for our users.
How do I authenticate with Dentally under the NexGen APIs?
You'll authenticate directly with Dentally instead of practices creating and managing API tokens on your behalf, making integrations more secure and scalable. We'll also confirm what data your product needs and verify it before it's made available to practices.
How do I get a practice to use my product?
Please note this is not yet built and is the vision for the next phase of the Dentally Marketplace.
Once added to the Partner Marketplace a practice will submit a lead form to start using your product.
You can then reach out and sign an agreement directly with the practice.
The practice confirms from Dentally you have permission to access their data - all done through the in-app Partner Marketplace
The practice is added as a subscription to your product.
What is the Dentally Marketplace?
A new website where practices can discover trusted solutions from verified Dentally Partners within the Dentally ecosystem. The Dentally Marketplace will re-launch later this year, with the functionality for practices to manage all their integrations either in-app or via the website.
Can any partner list on the Marketplace?
No, only verified partners are eligible to list on the Marketplace. If you are not yet an official Dentally partner, please apply online to be considered.
What happens once I'm approved as a Dentally Partner?
You'll be asked to complete an onboarding form providing everything we need for your Marketplace listing. Any leads generated through the Marketplace will be sent to the lead contact you provide, so make sure these details are correct.
