What is changing?
Dentally is launching a new set of APIs, the NexGen Practice APIs. Designed to improve security, reliability and scalability.
When are the NexGen Practice APIs launching?
An initial batch of APIs will be launched at the end of June, with continuous releases of APIs until outcome parity with the current v1 APIs is achieved.
Do I need to do anything right now?
For most practices, no action is required at this stage.
Existing partners will be required to complete an account review before access to the NextGen APIs can be provided.
If you are working with a third party who is not an official Dentally partner, please encourage them to complete a Dentally Partner Application.
Will existing integrations stop working?
No. The existing v1 APIs will continue to operate as normal. We do encourage you to adopt the NexGen APIs to improve the security, performance and reliability when accessing Dentally data.
What will partners need to change?
Partners using the current APIs will eventually need to migrate to the new NextGen APIs, including moving to new endpoints and OAuth2 authentication.
Documentation, onboarding guidance and sandbox access will be provided to support this process after partners have completed an account review.
Why is Dentally making these changes?
The NextGen APIs provide a more secure, scalable and reliable foundation for integrations, while improving long-term performance, access control and platform stability for our users.
