Dentally Portal π±
π New: Concierge available for iPad users
Concierge is now available to all AU/UK Portal users, including those who have the Dentally iPad app! Concierge offers the same paperless benefits as your existing iPad β with additional actions, a smoother and more modern interface, improved security and less administrative burden on your reception team. Plus, it's supported by both Android and Apple devices, and available at no extra cost to existing Dentally iPad users!
π New: Dentally Portal re-authentication
We've added re-authentication for patients who are inactive for 2 hours when using Dentally Portal. Patients will need to re-enter their password to continue their session, which will help to improve protection of sensitive data.
π New: Moving domain to portal.dental
We've finalised our domain move from dentr.net to portal.dental! This means when your patients access Dentally Portal, the URL domain will now look different.
No action will be required from you for now, as all existing links to dentr.net will be automatically redirected for at least 12 months, ensuring continuous access for your patients without interruption once this change is in place. We will provide guidance to help you update your dentr.net links soon.
This will create a more trustworthy and reliable service for patients, better reflecting our focus on dental services β plus it is a more relevant and memorable URL, making it easier for patients to remember.
π Improved: Signature security for Concierge
Thanks to your feedback, we understand that there were security concerns with whether typed signatures were representative when using a shared tablet device in the practice. We have updated Conciergeβs security to require a drawn signature only, when patients use Concierge in the practice. Patients using Dentally Portal at home can still choose to type or draw their signature, as this is on their own personal device.
π Improved: Increased time when using Concierge
We have increased the amount of time before a time-out β if a patient has multiple tasks to complete and canβt finish within 60 seconds, they will now see an option to extend the session before time-out, giving them more time to complete their actions.
π Improved: Tablet device controls for Concierge
Weβve made improvements to the 'Devices' page, including an updated and more intuitive look, and brand new βIdentifyβ button. If you have multiple devices paired and arenβt sure which is which, click βIdentifyβ - a visual alert will appear on the screen of the corresponding device, making it easy to find the one youβre looking for.
π Bug Fix: A bug was identified where some Concierge devices needed to be re-paired regularly. We've implemented several changes to make sure that your tablets stay paired if continually in use.
Dentally Vision π©»
π New: Dentally Vision AI now supports OPG/panoramic images
OPG images acquired or uploaded in Dentally Vision will now be processed for AI detection in the same way that bitewings and periapical images are processed, giving you greater insights and more findings across a wider variety of x-rays and imaging types.
π New: Resubmit images that failed to send to AI
Previously, it was possible that a user's image may not be sent for AI detection due to network issues during acquisition. Users can now resubmit AI candidate images which have not been submitted correctly and are less than 48 hours old, directly from the AI panel. This 'Submit for analysis' button only appears if the original submission fails.
π Improved: Supported devices
The following devices have been added or improved:
iRay Pluto is now a supported device for Dentally Vision
Support has been added for PSP intraoral acquisition modes using the GxPicture interface
Hamamatsu updates were made to improve image capture
Sirona/Schick updates have been made to version IOSS 3.2
DEXIS now supports 3D
Romexis timeout is extended to 1 minute
π Improved: Black and white level adjustment for radiographs
The 'Levels' adjustment tool has been implemented for 2D grayscale x-ray images, allowing users to manually adjust the black and white pixel levels. This tool enhances image clarity and contrast by giving users more precise control over image exposure. It has been added to the existing brightness/contrast popup window, introducing two new slidersβone for adjusting the maximum black pixel value and another for the minimum white pixel value.
Black Level Slider: Adjusts the threshold below which all pixel values are set to black (0).
White Level Slider: Adjusts the threshold above which all pixel values are set to white (255).
π Improved: AI menu remains open when toggling
The AI left-click menu will now remain open while users toggle the display of AI results, allowing for easier selection of multiple options without closing the menu.
π Improved: Show/hide AI findings button persistence
The show/hide AI findings state previously defaulted to being on. It will now retain its state (on/off) when users switch between images in the same exam, and will reset when a new exam is loaded, making for a smoother user experience.
π Bug Fix: We have corrected an AI rotation issue, so that the findings rotation and flip information returned from AI detection properly orientates findings with the imageβs current rotation.
π Bug Fix: An issue has been resolved with the CS 7600 device, where the scanning window did not always open during acquisition.
π Bug Fix: We have fixed a patient list limitation where the 'Reassign exam' feature only displayed 12 names in the dropdown, regardless of the total number of eligible patients.
π Bug Fix: Legend was not loading correctly sometimes in the AI panel. The panel now loads correctly with colour-coded numbers next to each finding.
π Bug Fix: Image Peek AI findings were toggled off when changing images. AI findings should now remain toggled on when AI results are shown.
π Bug Fix: A bug was identified where the clickable area for results did not match the visual area of results after flipping an image. This has been addressed, and clicking on an AI result now opens the AI menu with options for that specific result, regardless of the image orientation.

π New: Tooth status updates to all practices
We've been working hard to provide our Tooth Status updates to all practices - working alongside socket selection, this will improve the display of your patients' dentition. For more information about tooth status and root charting, read our news piece here.
If implants were not previously displaying in your perio exams, this is now displayed and can be charted against in the perio exam, when a tooth is updated from missing or extracted with an implant,
When using Condensed chart view, tooth roots can now be displayed - showing implants and root canal treatments, and allowing treatments and icons to be placed directly on the root. When not viewing the tooth roots, any teeth with root-related activity will be highlighted to quickly indicate information is attached. Tooth root view is enabled in the charting preferences βοΈ
Socket selection allows you to quickly update the status of a tooth (for example from unerupted to present) by clicking the socket around the root or the bar next to each tooth.
π Improved: Aging patient debt display
We've made it easier to understand aging patient debt. You can now add columns to the 'Patients' report that show the age of the patient's debt, splitting them by number of days up to 90+ days old.
This will help you understand the amounts owed by patients, as they age and therefore become harder to collect. We're also adding filters for these values to let you locate patients with debt in specific categories - these filters will be rolling out over the next few weeks.
π Improved: Ordering of numeric treatment codes
We've changed how your treatment is ordered when viewed by code - treatments will be displayed in a better numerical sequence to help group similar treatments together, making for an easier and more efficient workflow.
π Improved: Treatment item saving
We've overhauled how treatment plan items are saved in the background, to stop potential changes to notes or treatment details being overwritten when these treatments are open in more than one screen.
If a treatment item has been changed on another screen or device since you opened it, and your changes do not overwrite those made elsewhere, we'll let you know and save both sets of changes. If your changes conflict with changes made elsewhere, we'll give you the chance to see what has changed and update the treatment with your changes or keep those made elsewhere. Find out more about these updates in our news piece.
π Improved: Calendar invitations in the appointment finder
When sending an email reminder through the new appointment finder, after booking an appointment, you can now select to send a calendar invitation (iCal) attached to the email β this invitation allows the patient to add their next appointment to their personal calendar, reducing the chance of them forgetting and of resulting FTAs.
π Improved: Clinical notes template selection
Clinical notes templates can be personal or shared - when selecting the template you want to use, we allow you to filter the list of options by whether they are personal to you or shared in the practice. We now remember the option you chose last time, so you don't need to switch lists every time you go to choose a template.
π Bug Fix: There was an issue with the page numbers not displaying the current page on the 'Payment Allocations' report. In some cases, it would look like you were on Page 1 instead of the page you'd clicked to, causing confusion.
π Bug Fix: We resolved an issue with waiting lists, where the status wasnβt saving correctly when changing it for patients on a list, if set to βOverdueβ. This impacted the reporting of overdue patients on waiting lists.

π Improved: Fee caps from HC3 exemptions
Estimates now support fee caps from HC3 exemptions. Previously, the full cost of the treatment would be shown when emailing or printing an estimate, but the cap from an HC3 exemption will now show correctly on the estimate, making communicating treatment plans to patients much easier.

π New: Concierge available to CA users π
Say hello to Concierge - our newest Dentally Portal feature is coming to Canada!
Weβre starting our Beta trial for Concierge, which enables patients to complete outstanding actions such as forms, on a tablet when they arrive in your practice.
Itβs a smoother, more effortless experience for patients, with less administrative burden on your team β plus it is supported by both Apple and Android! Find out more about Concierge here. Want to join the Beta trial for Concierge? Get in touch with your Customer Success Manager or the Support team now to sign up!
π New: Claim preview and comments
To help keep you informed, you can now view a claim at a glance from the Claims Manager using the claim preview, and even leave comments against claims! To view the claim and comments, select the blue arrow to the right of each row.
The number of comments against each claim will show on the main table, and if you open the claim you will see the comments, who left them, and when.
π New: Track plan allowances and limits
Allowances can now be set against a plan for either Basic, Major, and Ortho, or Basic & Major combined, with Ortho separately. Individual policies can now track and override the remaining allowance, automatically decreasing for all EOBs received. This will help you understand which treatments a patient may be eligible for. Limits can be set to reset every year or every two years, with Ortho limits maintained for the policy lifetime.
π Improved: Manual claim status for downloaded forms
If you download a claim form to send by mail, you'll now see this represented in the claim management tool as a manual submission, allowing you to see that it's been submitted and update the status accordingly. If you do not wish to continue with the manual claim, simply mark it as discarded.
π Improved: No need for 'Mark as paid' option
The 'Mark as paid' button has been removed in response to feedback that it caused some confusion, as it was not clear that it only transitioned the claim without creating the corresponding payments. If you now wish to update the status of the claim without creating corresponding payments, use the 'Record payments' option, where you can enter a payment of $0.00 if needed.
π Improved: Payment method no longer pre-selected
Previously, the payment method was pre-selected when taking payments. We have addressed feedback that this could cause mistakes to be made, and the field is no longer pre-selected. When recording a payment, you'll need to manually select whether it's a cheque or direct deposit, so you can ensure the correct one is selected.
π Improved: Visa and Mastercard payment options
To help with your end-of day-tasks, we've added Visa and Mastercard as payment types. You can now use the 'Collections' report to confirm that the amount for each type matches your credit card takings for the day.
π Improved: Claims rejected due to network issues
If a claim is rejected due to network issues, you can now resubmit it with the same information. Previously, we reflected CDAnet's rule to prevent resubmitting the same claim under any circumstances without making changes, but some claims are rejected for transient issues with carriers. We have updated this so these claims can now be resubmitted without making changes.
π Improved: Claim search, filtering and actions
We've made a lot of updates to the claims management tool this month to help you find the claims that you're looking for when using the claim management tool, including updates to search, filtering and actions. These improvements will make it easier than ever to reconcile claims when you receive statements from carriers.
π Improved: Archiving unused policies
Previously, you were only able to delete policies that had never been used. Now, you'll see the option to archive or delete policies, regardless of whether they've been used - allowing you to mark a policy as inactive but with the option to restore it later.
π Improved: Restoring discarded claims
If you discard a claim but then wish to revert it, you're now able to 'Restore' electronic claims to their last EDI state, and manual claims back to βSubmittedβ. This allows you to correct mistakes and adapt if you wish to continue with a previously discarded manual claim.
π Bug Fix: There was an issue with transaction numbers not saving, but this has been resolved and the transaction number now saves correctly when reconciling a pending payment.
