How do I complete a treatment in Canada?

πŸ“ Please note: This is different from completing a treatment plan.

To mark a treatment as complete (for Canadian users):

  • Find the treatment and check the tickbox on the far right of the treatment.

  • Checking the tickbox at the bottom under all the treatments will mark them all as complete.

When you mark the treatment as complete, it cannot be edited unless it has been unticked or resubmitted. However, notes can still be added within 24 hours of completion. To find out more about editing charged treatment, read our dedicated help guide here.

πŸ“ Please note: The amount in the first payment column indicates the estimated patient portion for this treatment. The amber dot next to the payment indicates that it is an estimate. The dot will change to green when you have submitted a predetermination and the insurer has confirmed.

How do I charge a treatment in Canada?

To charge a treatment in the treatment plan in Canada:

  • At the bottom of the treatment plan, click 'Charge'.

  • This will create an invoice for any treatments in this plan which have been marked as completed but which haven't yet been charged. The invoice will be found under the 'Account' tab in the patient record.

  • If you click 'Charge' when no treatments in the plan have been marked as complete, an invoice will not be generated.

  • Once work has been charged, you cannot untick it as complete unless you remove the invoice containing it and reopen the plan. A lock πŸ”’ symbol will appear to the right of the invoiced treatment in the treatment plan.

  • If there is more than one provider listed in the completed treatments, it will generate separate invoices per provider.

πŸ“ Please note: This is different from completing a treatment.

When all work which was due to be carried out has been completed, mark the plan as complete by clicking the 'Complete treatment plan' button at the bottom.

You will be asked to confirm when you would like to see the patient again, based on their recall intervals and their last completed Exam and Scale & Polish appointments. The dates will be suggested but can be overwritten here and the patient’s recall intervals can be changed if required.

How do I reopen a treatment plan which has been marked as complete, in Canada?

In some instances, you may wish to reopen a treatment plan which you had closed. For example, if a claim failed because the treatment was incorrectly charted, and the claim needs to be resubmitted.

In Canada, to reopen a treatment plan which has been previously marked as complete:

  • Go to patient's chart and click the 'History' tab on the right-hand side.

  • Find the completed treatment plan which you wish to reopen. Click 'TP' on the left of the chosen treatment plan. This will reopen the treatment plan.

  • Ensure the relevant treatments are marked as incomplete and edit the treatment plan as needed. When you are done, proceed as normal.
