How do patients complete self check-in using a tablet?

To allow patients to check in on a device upon arrival at the practice, you will need to set up Kiosk mode.

With Kiosk set up, when a patient arrives at the practice:

  • The patient will be presented with a tablet enabled with Kiosk near the entrance to the practice.

  • They must enter their date of birth and the initial of their surname. Read more about how Kiosk mode keeps patient data safe here.

  • When the patient has checked in, your calendar will automatically update to show them as 'Arrived' - and they will see one of the below messages.

πŸ’‘ Top tip: Make sure your Kiosk-enabled tablet is visible by the entrance to your practice so patients know to use it. We recommend adding signage to explain the process, when you first start using it.

What will the patient see after they have checked in on Kiosk?

The message a patient sees after they have checked in will vary depending on what actions (if any) are needed. Please note, at this time it is not currently possible to customise the messages.

  • If the patient has outstanding actions to complete, they will be prompted to go to the Reception desk.

  • If the patient has completed all outstanding tasks prior to their arrival, they will be prompted to take a seat in the waiting room.

  • If the patient is late for their appointment, they will see a specific message making them aware and prompting them to speak to the reception team.
