How to enable Kiosk mode with the Portal app

What is Kiosk mode in the Portal app?

When a patient arrives at the practice for their appointment, they can use a tablet to check in and confirm their arrival. This is called Kiosk mode, and requires you to pair a device.

πŸ“ Please note: This is different from Concierge mode, which allows patients to complete forms on a tablet upon arrival in the practice.

How do I turn on Kiosk mode?

If your plan includes Dentally Portal or the current iPad app, it is automatically available as long as you have a device paired. To make use of Kiosk mode:

  • You will need a device which patients can use on arrival for self check-in. If you intend to use Concierge mode as well, you will need two separate devices.

  • Once you have a tablet, pair the device with your Portal - you must select 'Kiosk' under 'Mode' when pairing your device to enable self check-in.

  • Ensure your Kiosk tablet is accessible and easily visible to patients upon arrival - this could be mounted on a stand or attached to the wall near the entrance. This will free up the Reception team's time to focus on other tasks.
