Let's explore entering and editing the patient's details within Dentally for Canadian users πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The Details tab is where the patient’s personal details are stored and edited. It is split into sections to make things easy to find.


Patient Details screen

The Patient details screen is split into the following sections:

Let's take a look at a breakdown of each section...


Patient Identity

You can enter and edit the following patient's personal details here:

  • Title

  • First Name

  • Middle Name

  • Last Name

  • Preferred Name

  • DOB

  • Sex

  • Has a disability?

  • Student?

  • Preferred language

  • Occupation


*Adding Family Members

This section enables you to see any Family members linked to the patient, including their first name, last name and age.


Linking family members together can be done in two ways:

  1. You can use the Link button highlighted below if the family member is already in your database. Simply type there name and select them from the list.

  2. Or if the family member is a new patient, just click the '+create new patient' icon, and it will pull in info such as last name, address, and dentist.


Custom fields

There are two available text-only custom fields available on the patient details tab.

The titles of these can be changed in Settings -> Practice -> Other and under Custom Fields & Charting

You also have the ability to set up further custom fields, which can be entered for each patient through the custom fields button in the top right of their patient record.


Contact details and preferences

You can enter and edit the following patient's personal details here:

  • Address

  • Phone Numbers (Mobile/Home/Preferred)

  • Email

  • Consents - opt-in email / opt-in to SMS and Marketing consent

πŸ’‘ Please note, that SMS messages will only be sent to the number in the Mobile field.


Practice and Recalls

This final section on the Patient Details screen includes the following fields:


*Setting up Doctors in Dentally

Doctors are selected from a pre-populated list.

If the available Doctor is not listed, you can use the '+' button to the right of the field to add a new Doctor, this will also be added to your available list of Doctors going forward.


*Setting up Acquisition sources in Dentally

By adding an acquisition source to each patient, you can track your most successful stream for gathering new patients.

These are selected from a pre-populated list that you can set up and edit accordingly in your practice settings.
