When does a patient's recall date update?

There are two ways a patient's recall date can change:

  • Manually

  • Automatically

To manually change a patient's recall date:

  • In the 'Clinical' section, find the 'Next dentist/hygienist recall' field.

  • Here you can amend the date manually if required.

If not manually updated, the date will automatically update when certain appointments are marked as completed.

πŸ“ Please note: The appointment needs to be "linked" to the recall in order for the system to recognise that the recall has now been carried out, and automatically update to the new date.

The new date will be based on the interval you have set for the patient - the interval will apply from the date the appointment is completed.

  • When you mark an 'Exam' appointment as complete, the dentist recall date will be moved forward.

  • When you mark a 'Scale & Polish' appointment as complete, the hygienist recall date will be moved forward.

  • When you mark an 'Exam + Scale & Polish' appointment as complete, both the dentist and hygienist recall dates will be moved forward.

Recall intervals are also linked to payment plans:

  • If a patient is assigned a payment plan, the recall interval attached to that plan will automatically apply for that patient.

  • This will also apply if a child patient is registered at the practice and is added to that payment plan. If you do not wish to recall a child for hygiene appointments, make sure that the hygiene interval and dates that were automatically added in their patient record are set to blank.

  • The recall interval for a payment plan is 6 months by default, but can be adjusted as needed - any changes made will apply to the recall interval of all patients on that plan
