For patients on a 'CDBS' plan, Dentally can store and update the patient's CDBS balance. The balance will be visible on the patient record at all times for reference. We recommend that a patients eligibility and benefit cap is checked before each visit and updated as per the process below.

Note: Patients must have medicare card details stored (link) and be on the CDBS default payment plan.

Adding / Editing a CDBS Balance

CDBS patients without a balance will show a red CDBS balance indicator and '?' symbol. This is to prompt the user to add the patient's balance before their appointment to inform treatment decision making.

To add a CDBS balance:

  1. Open the patient's Medicare Card by either:

    1. Clicking the edit icon next to Medicare Number on the Patient Details page.

    2. or clicking the CDBS Balance from any page.

  2. Click the balance field of the patient you wish to update and update the balance value.

  3. Click Save

  4. The balance is now updated

Updating an out of date CDBS Balance

If a patient has a CDBS Balance that has not been updated within two days of the appointment, the CDBS balance indicator will turn red and display a '?' symbol. This is to prompt you to check the patient's balance before their appointment to inform treatment decision making.

When the Medicare Card is open, the balance that needs to be updated is highlighted in red as shown below.

Check the balance online or by calling Services Australia on 132 150 and enter the updated benefit cap.

Select Save

Note: If the balance shown is correct, clicking the 'Confirm balance' button will mark that the balance value is up to date and accurate.
