A sterilisation tracking code or Batch Control Identification (BCI) relates to the sterilisation cycle for the instruments used during the patient's procedure and allows the practice to create a list of patients based on the BCI should the need arise.

Allocating sterilisation codes to an appointment

  • Steri-codes are entered on the charting screen for each appointment. To add a sterilisation code, click on the barcode icon (next to the red delete button)

  • Each sterilisation code entry must be associated to an appointment

An error message will display if the code is not linked to an appointment

  • Multiple steri-codes can be entered for an appointment at any time, even if the appointment is completed. However, steri-codes can only be deleted on current appointments, but not on completed appointments.

  • Barcode scanner use is supported (hint: set the barcode scanner to input an enter keystroke after the code to automatically save the scanned code).

Searching for a sterilisation code

The Appointment Report is used to create a list of patients based on a specific sterilisation code.

Enter the exact code into the Sterilisation Batch Code field to filter and list the associated patient appointments.

Audit Trail

  • Audit data is available on the patient audit tab (available for level 4 users)

  • Click on view changes on the right hand side to see the steri-code information
