How can I find a patient in Dentally?
The search bar can be found front and centre of Dentally. You can use any piece of information about the patient to find them in your system. The process varies depending whether the patient is active or archived. Scroll to the bottom of the article for details on finding archived patients.
If you have viewed the patient record recently, you can also find it quickly by clicking the 'Recently Viewed Patients' button (which looks like two people) in the left-hand toolbar. This will give you a list of patients whose records you have viewed recently.
What information can I use to search for a patient?
When using the search bar at the top of Dentally:
First name
Last name
Full name
Mobile number
Email address
Date of birth (type as day/month/year format eg 01/01/1995) - you must type the date in full before the patient will appear.
ID (type a # symbol before their ID number when searching eg #1000).
NHS number (type a % symbol before their NHS number eg %12345678) - for UK NHS practices only.
How do I find an archived patient?
If you need to search for an archived patient simply add an asterisk โก๏ธ * before the patient's name when searching
For example, to search for archived patient John Smith you would type *John Smith
In the case where you have merged two records, you can do the following to locate the 'source' patient:
Each merged patient will have a note to say who it was merged with. Find one of the two merged patients and make note of the ID from here.
Search for that patient's ID in the 'Patients' report.
Clicking on the patient in the 'Patients' report will open the archived patient record.
