What is the 'Waiting Room'?

When a patient is marked as 'Arrived' by updating their appointment status, their name will appear in the virtual 'Waiting Room' in Dentally.

To view your practice's waiting room:

  • In Dentally, click the clock ⏰ icon in the left-hand toolbar. If you are a practitioner, you will also see a red square on top of your clock ⏰ waiting room icon in the left-hand toolbar, indicating the number of patients waiting for you specifically. If you are not a practitioner, you won't see a count here.

  • You will see the list of all patients due for an appointment, whose appointment status has been marked as 'Arrived'.

  • It will include:

    • The initials of the practitioner they are seeing.

    • The time of their appointment.

    • Their name, age and address.

    • The amount of time since they arrived (shown next to the hourglass ⌛️ icon).

    • The type of appointment.

  • Each patient will appear in a particular colour, depending when they arrived:

    • Green - The patient arrived before their appointment start time.

    • Orange - The patient arrived less than 5 minutes after their appointment start time.

    • Red - The patient arrived more than 5 minutes after their appointment start time

  • You can click on any patient's name to be taken to their patient record.

In the 'Waiting Room', appointments are grouped, so if you are a practitioner, you will see a 'Waiting for You' section with your patients, followed by a 'Waiting for Others' section. If you are administrative staff, all patients will come under others.
