How do I create an orthodontic report?
Orthodontic reports let you build a composite image document from a patient's extraoral photos and share it with patients, referring clinicians, or insurers. Drag images into eight predefined slots, customise the report header, then export a PDF or save the report to the patient's record.
Once you click 'Done', the report is saved as a single image that cannot be edited. Check the layout, header details, and image adjustments before you save.
Open the correct patient record before you start.
Open the patient's Chart and click 'New image'.
On the navigation panel, select the 'Standard' tab.
Select the 'Ortho Report' imaging procedure.
Customise the report header as needed:
To change the report creation date, click the pencil icon next to 'Ortho Report' and the date in the upper-left corner, then select the correct date on the calendar.
To change the practice name, treatment title or the date shown on the report, click the pencil icon, enter the name you want on the report, then click outside the field.
To add your practice logo, click 'Upload Logo', select an image file, then click 'Open'. You can crop, zoom, and pan the logo within its slot so it frames correctly.
Any existing 2D Oral/Facial Photos for the patient appear on the filmstrip at the bottom of the screen. To show images from a specific date only, select that date from the 'Show images from' list.
To add images from an external folder or device (for example, from a DSLR camera), select 'Import from File', select the images you want, then 'Open'. The images appear on the filmstrip.
Drag images from the filmstrip into any of the eight predefined slots.
When you drag an image into a slot, a toolbar appears so you can adjust the image straight away.
To adjust an image in a slot, select the image and use the toolbar to mirror, rotate, or crop the image as needed.
To crop an image, select the 'Crop' icon, resize or reposition the bounding box, then select 'Apply'.
To adjust brightness, position your pointer over the image and drag up or down.
To adjust contrast, position your pointer over the image and drag left or right.
To replace an image in a slot, drag a different image from the filmstrip into that slot, or select the bin icon on the image toolbar.
Adjustments apply only to the image in the report slot. The original image in the patient's record is not changed.
When you are ready to share or print the report, select 'Export Report'. A PDF document is downloaded or opens in a new browser tab in landscape orientation.
To save the report to the patient's record, select 'Done'.
The report is saved as a single image and opens in single-image view. You can also find it in the patient's Cloud Gallery.
Things to consider:
Empty image slots export as white space with no placeholders or borders.
Once saved, the report cannot be modified. If you need to make changes, create a new orthodontic report.
Creating an orthodontic report does not chart a treatment item on the patient's record in Dentally.
How do I view a saved orthodontic report?
In the Cloud Gallery the report appears as an 'Ortho Report' exam.
When you open the report, it displays at the largest size that fits in the viewer while keeping the correct aspect ratio. The same behaviour applies in full screen mode.
