Global updates
New: User Sessions report now visible to Level 4 users
Practice Level 4 users can now open the ‘User Sessions’ report directly from Reports, without needing support to impersonate their account. This makes it easier to self-serve login and session history.
New: estimate preview
See a live preview of an estimate as it’s created or edited, so teams can check layout and wording before printing, emailing, or sharing with a patient. In Canada, a toggle keeps insurance details off the patient-facing document when needed. In Australia, health fund estimates only preview once the patient’s health fund card has been swiped.
Improved: patient phone number formatting
Patient phone numbers are now automatically formatted using country-specific rules, improving readability and consistency across Dentally. This also includes better handling of international numbers.
New: practices can create their own NexGen API credentials
UK and APAC Level 4 users can now generate their own NexGen API credentials from Settings, without needing a partner integration. This gives practices more control over connecting their own tools and reporting.
Improved: scanned and uploaded documents can be attached to emails
Building on document scanning, practices can now attach scanned or uploaded documents straight to a patient email, including selecting specific pages from multi-page scans and combining them into a single PDF. No more downloading and re-uploading before sending.
Improved: clearer guidance for Chrome’s “Apps on Device” permission
Document scanning and imaging rely on communication between Dentally and software installed locally, which needs Chrome’s “Apps on Device” permission enabled. If that permission has been blocked, Dentally now shows a clear prompt explaining what’s needed and how to resolve it before scanning or image acquisition begins. This should make setup and troubleshooting easier and cut down on failed scanning attempts.
Improved: clearer appointment editing for family appointments
The edit appointment dialog now shows the patient’s full name, including any preferred name, instead of just an icon. This makes it much easier to confirm you’re editing the right appointment when several family members appear in the same appointments list.
Bug fixes
Patient report filtering by site now correctly loads that site's practitioners
Cross-site payments on multi-practitioner invoices now allocate to the correct practitioner
Practitioner allocations now update correctly after a discounted invoice is paid in full
Duplicate patient matches at sites you can't access now show a permission message instead of opening the record
Calendar duration dropdown no longer overlaps the chevron icon
Sundry dropdown no longer disappears after adding the first item to an invoice
UK/ROI updates
New: acknowledge rejection warnings before submitting NHS claims
On England and Wales NHS claim forms, if Dentally warns that a claim is likely to be rejected, clinicians now need to confirm they've read the warning before submitting. This replaces the previous dialog with a clearer, dedicated step, so a claim can't go through without that acknowledgement.
Improved: Scotland NHS claim fields now auto-populate further
The 'number of teeth to be restored or extracted' and 'highest sextant score' fields on Scottish NHS claims are now calculated from charting and BPE data and filled in automatically, so practices can simply validate the value instead of calculating it by hand.
Improved: NHS contract suspension for England
If the NHS rejects a claim because of invalid contract details, Dentally now automatically suspends that contract until it’s corrected, matching how this already worked in Wales. This should prevent repeated errored claims from being queued and then needing manual correction and resubmission.
Bug fixes
NHS: ortho claim completion date now copies from the declaration form, so it no longer needs entering twice
NHS: Wales periodontal claims now correctly find a linked BPE already on the chart
NHS: Wales urgent referral claims no longer fail submission after a failed to attend
NHS: Wales ACORN claims with zero decayed teeth no longer return a missing code error
NHS: Wales ACORN claims rejected for red tooth decay can be withdrawn again
NHS: the Wales Urgent Care Package toggle now shows reliably on first chart load
NHS: claim warnings now appear for missing under-18 exemptions and deprecated Wales treatment codes
NHS: England contracts with a £0 UDA value can be marked as not measured on UDAs
Canadian updates
Improved: insurance certificate management when a dentist leaves
Practices can now remove a dentist's insurance certificate when they leave, so they stop appearing as a billing provider for new claims and predeterminations. Past claims and history stay intact, and certificates are managed per site for multi-site practices.
Improved: BC and Alberta timezone update (Canada)
Dentally now has British Columbia and Alberta practices set up for their permanent timezone change, UTC-7 and UTC-6 respectively, taking effect from 1 November 2026. Appointments, diaries, recalls and reminders have already been migrated to stay aligned with the correct local time once the change applies. Practices don’t need to do anything.
Improved: clearer guidance on multi-page predeterminations
When a carrier doesn't support multi-page predeterminations, Dentally now clearly flags the seven-item limit before you try to generate or print, instead of showing a generic error.
Improved: resubmitting reversed claims
After a claim is reversed, practices can now resubmit and regenerate it directly, without needing to print first.

APAC updates
Improved: School name and NHI number on the Patients Report (New Zealand)
New Zealand practices can now filter and view School Name and NHI Number directly in the Patients Report, including in exports, making it easier to plan school visits and build working lists.
Improved: ACC contributions seeded automatically (New Zealand)
ACC contributions for new New Zealand practice sign-ups are now seeded automatically from Dentally's reference database, removing the need to update around 90 services manually before go live.
Improved: updated fee schedule and approval form (New Zealand)
Dentally has been updated to reflect the New Zealand Ministry of Health's new fee schedule and prior approval form, so practices can keep submitting claims and approvals against the latest requirements.
Bug fixes
Health fund quotes no longer get stuck loading after completing on the terminal
Coming soon
These updates affect features that are currently in beta testing or early rollout. They're not yet available to all practices, but here's what to expect from us over the coming weeks as these features continue to roll out across our users.
New: NHS Contract Target Tracking for Wales
Welsh NHS practices will soon be able to track delivery against their annual contract target directly in Dentally, with claimed progress, category sub-targets and practitioner breakdowns shown against expected pace. Now in early beta with a small number of practices, with a wider rollout to single-site Welsh practices starting soon.
New: family appointments and upcoming appointments printout
Practices will be able to review and book appointments for linked family members from a single patient's Appointments tab, and print a combined list of upcoming appointments for the whole household.
New: automatically send predeterminations to primary and secondary insurance (Canada)
When a practice creates a predetermination for a patient with dual insurance, Dentally now submits to both primary and secondary carriers automatically.
New: dedicated Prescription workflow
Prescriptions is progressing through beta with a wider set of improvements, including favourited templates, multiple tags, simplified fields and clearer status timelines, plus dedicated workflow improvements for Australian PBS prescribing.
Improved: choosing assignment of benefits per claim (Canada)
Canadian practices will be able to choose assignment or non-assignment directly on a claim, rather than relying on the patient's policy default every time.
Improved: optimised online booking workflows for new and existing patients
A redesigned Portal booking experience is in beta with a small number of UK practices, cutting login and booking times significantly for both new and returning patients.
