When configuring the Dentally Imaging Bridge for software such as Examine Pro, Carestream or VixWin, you may need to identify where your practice stores its images.
This is usually located on the your main storage server or a shared network location.
If you already knows where images are stored, use that location. Otherwise, the steps below can help you identify where this might be.
Option 1 โ Check a working bridge on another PC
If another workstation already has a working Imaging Bridge configured:
Connect to the working PC
Open the Imaging Bridge settings
Locate the existing image storage path
Copy the same path to the PC being configured
This is usually the quickest and most reliable method.
Option 2 โ Check mapped drives for VixWin
VixWin commonly stores images on a mapped network drive.
Check the PC for mapped drives such as:
X:\
G:\
V:\
These drives often contain the image storage folder.
Option 3 โ Check the Windows network section
Open File Explorer
Select Network
Look for shared PCs or servers on the network
Devices containing names such as โServerโ can often be the image host machine.
Common server names
Many practices use predictable server names, especially if they previously used systems such as Exact or R4.
Common examples include:
\\Server
\\Server01
\\Server1
\\ExactServer
\\R4SERVER
These are useful starting points when searching the network for your image storage location.
Common image storage locations for specific software
Examine Pro
Typical image storage locations include:
\\SERVERNAME\EXACTData\Xrays\
\\SERVERNAME\Exactwin\Data\xrays\
Carestream
In most cases, Carestream images are stored inside a folder called PWTrophy.
Common examples include:
\\SERVERNAME\PWTrophy\
\\SERVERNAME\TW\PWTrophy\
VixWin
VixWin image folders are typically stored inside a VXIMAGES folder on a mapped drive.
Examples include:
X:\VXIMAGES
G:\VXIMAGES
V:\VXIMAGES
