How do I submit an NHS Wales claim?
Once you are ready to submit your claims, make sure all your items are marked as complete.
If the patient is NOT exempt, charge through FIRST to raise an invoice for the patient.
Click 'Submit Claim' and 'Submit Claim' again from the selection window.
You will then be presented with the NHS claim form.
🚨 Important: Double check everything on the form is correct before proceeding. The claim form contains all the information that will be transmitted to the NHS, including the Care Package details which will dictate how much you are paid.
Complete the fields as required - mandatory fields will be marked with a red asterisk.
It is essential that the 'Practitioner' who is claiming for the work is selected.
Check that the correct contract is also selected especially if you have more than one at your practice.
Once you have checked all the information is correct, you can accept the declarations and submit the form.
You will be asked to confirm that you wish to complete the treatment plan once the claim has been submitted. This follows the usual procedure of completing treatment plans, and confirms the patient’s next visit date and closes the plan.
Once you have submitted a claim there is a delay of one hour before it will be submitted to the NHS. This time allows you to amend any errors the claim might have.
Once the claim has been submitted, you will need to wait until you have received acknowledgement that it has been successfully passed to Claims Processing, before you can resubmit it for any reason.
You can view the audit history for a claim at any time, but going to the 'NHS' tab and choosing 'Claims', where you can find the claim and view its history.
Some important notes to consider when completing the form:
The Care Package value and patient charge are confirmed, along with the clinical dataset, confirming the details of the treatments included on this claim. Click the dropdown arrow to expand any Care Package to see what treatments it includes. The Care Packages are dictated by the treatments selected (this will have been shown when charting).
The practitioner can be confirmed or changed here. Only practitioners with the required NHS settings configured can be selected here
The contract can be selected here. If none has been set as the default, it will auto-populate with the last one you used.
Include the patient's ethnicity and NHS number - both must be filled in, even if you select that the detail was not provided.
The treatment plan start and end dates will auto-populate with the dates in the treatment plan settings, but can be amended here.
Any exemption will be auto-populated if included in the treatment plan.
