How does charting work for under 18 patients via Ministry of Health (MoH)?

For the most part, you can follow our standard charting guidelines when charting for under 18s via MoH services.

There are a couple of important distinctions specific to MoH charting:

  • When charting, use the dropdown on the left and select 'MoH', to filter so that only relevant treatment items are visible.

  • The MoH service you select for the patient will dictate which treatment items are available to chart for the patient. If you try to chart a treatment that's not available for that fee schedule, you will see an error message. If you still wish to proceed, you'll need to switch to the correct service, chart the item and then switch back.

  • If the patient's fee schedule has been set to 'SDS - MoH', when you go to complete any MoH-specific charted items, you will see a pop-up window and will need to provide justification.

  • If the treatment you are charting requires prior approval, you will be prompted to request this.

  • When you complete a treatment plan for an MoH patient, an individual treatment report will be generated and can be managed from the claim management tool.
