📝 Please note - X-ray grading options in EXAMINE Pro are configured locally per computer. For example, If grading options are set up on the computer in Surgery 1, they will only be available on that specific machine. To make them available in other surgeries, repeat the setup steps on each computer.

How to configure grading options

  • Open EXAMINE Pro via the Dentally imaging Bridge

  • Go to 'Options' > 'Setup'

  • In the 'General Settings' window, select 'Display Settings', then choose 'Image Properties Settings'.

  • Locate the '"Grade" Field File' row and click the 'Edit' button on the far right. A plain text editor will open, displaying the current list of grading options.

  • Add your desired grading codes to the list.

    • For practices in the UK, current regulations recommend using A (Acceptable) and N (Not Acceptable).

    • Other commonly supported formats include 1, 2, 3 or A, B, C.

🚨 Important: Do not add custom text labels such as 'Acceptable' or 'Non Acceptable'. These will appear as 'Ungraded Images' in audit reports. Only single-letter or numeric codes are supported.

  • Once finished, click 'File' > 'Save' to apply your changes.

  • Click 'Exit' to close the editor and 'Exit' again to close the 'General Settings' window.

  • Do not click 'Save Changes' on the main settings page — this may prompt a full EXpro software restart.

The new grading options will now appear in the Grading field when saving x-rays, allowing for consistent image quality auditing per practice standards.
