What is socket selection

Socket selection can be used during the base charting process to allow you to quickly update the status of a tooth.

For example: Socket selection is best used when initially base charting a patient's permanent dentition, or when updating the status of a patient's dentition on a subsequent visit.

🚨Important: This is only available to users with root view enabled.

How to use socket selection

  • Navigate to the desired patients chart and make sure you have root view enabled.

  • Hover over a root. You will see the root is now selectable and will display a shaded area while hovering over the socket.

  • Right mouse click on this area and you will be presented with drop down list of available tooth statuses.

  • From here you can choose the required tooth status from the socket selection drop down list.

  • This dropdown will also show the current status of that permanent tooth, indicated by a tick against the status.

  • Once you select a new status the tooth icon on the graphical chart will change accordingly.

💡 Top Tip: Updating the status of teeth using this method can be carried out alongside the normal base charting or even while treatment planning!
