๐Ÿ“ Please note: These steps are for Australian ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ users only - for UK/Canada ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆusers, the steps are different.

In Australia, PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) aims to offer safe, affordable medicines to all Australians who hold a current Medicare card. Dentists can prescribe for their patients using a specific PBS Prescription which is a standardised template and can be filled in manually or generated electronically.

In Dentally we have enabled the ability to capture prescription information and print PBS Prescriptions onto the templated paper.

Prerequisites:

  • Only a practitioner can create a PBS prescription and it will be created in their name with their details, dated to the current date.

  • The practitioner must have a Prescriber Number added to their Practitioner record in the Practice user settings.

The Prescriber Number must be 7 characters long.

Creating Prescriptions:

  • Navigate to the patients Correspondence page.

  • Click on 'New Correspondence' and select 'New prescription'.

  • This will display the new prescription template which will be pre-filled with:

    • Dentists details

    • Patient details

    • Prescriber type will be pre-ticked

Enter and complete the following:

  • The patients Pharmaceutical benefits entitlement number - this can only be numbers

  • The Prescription items

  • Any Additional details

NOTE: any additional tick boxes that need to be checked will need to be completed manually once printed.

Printing the Prescription:

NOTE: Dentally does not control the print settings in your browser. Chrome will default to the last applied print settings.

Selecting 'Save & Print' will display a preview that will be printed onto the template. This is displayed on a white form in the preview screen but will print correctly on the template.

To ensure the prescription information prints on the PBS paper correctly, go to 'More settings' and check the โ€˜Marginsโ€™ setting, please ensure it is set to โ€˜Noneโ€™.

NOTE: If the Margin is not set to None, a black border is shown in the print preview window.

This black border should not be visible, if the black border is visible please check that your โ€˜Marginsโ€™ setting is set to โ€˜Noneโ€™.

Viewing Prescriptions:

To view a Patients previous prescription, open the patient's 'Correspondence' tab and select 'View'.

Editing and Deleting Prescriptions:

The ability to edit and delete a patients prescription is automatically applied to all level 4 users, however any level 4 user can allocate this function to any other user by selecting the tick-box in the user's settings

NOTE: Prescriptions can only be edited within 24 hours of the prescription creation.

Editing a prescription:

To edit a patients prescription, if within the 24 hour time period, the 'Edit' link will display

Selecting the 'Edit' link will display the screen below with the editable fields showing in the red box.

Edit the relevant fields and select 'Save & Print'. The prescription will now be updated.

Deleting a prescription:

To delete a patients prescription, go to 'View', the 'Delete' link will display. Select 'Delete'

The 'Are you sure....' message below will display. Selecting 'Delete' will delete the prescription

This action will be recorded in the Audit Trail
