πŸ“ Please note: Only clinical practitioners can chart BPEs. Practice managers, receptionists and other admin staff are not able to chart BPEs.

How to record a BPE?

  • Navigate to the BPE tab on the patient's 'Chart' screen.

  • Click on β€˜Record New BPE’ to bring up a new BPE grid.

πŸ’‘ Top Tip: If a BPE is overdue, or has never been updated for a patient, the 'BPE' tab will show a red dot

  • Click into one of the boxes to start typing your scores.

  • To add bleeding, press the β€˜B’ key.

  • To add furcation, press the β€˜F’ key.

  • The combined score will change as you edit each score in the grid.

  • Setting a score of 1 will automatically also record bleeding in that area.

  • Add any notes or comments in the notes field provided.

    • Once saved, the note will appear in the patient’s clinical history and directly beneath the BPE score on the BPE tab

  • You can set a reminder for the next BPE exam from here as well. This will display the red marker again when the time has elapsed.

  • Once the BPE is complete click β€˜Save’ to finish.

🚨 Important: Completed BPE exams CAN be edited for the first 24 hours using the 'Edit' button.

After this time if an exam needs adjusting it would need to be deleted and re-recorded. BPE exams can be deleted by level 3 or 4 users, by clicking the red 'Delete' button.
