๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: This article explains how the appointment status progresses through the appointment journey - learn more about how to update the appointment status, and what each status means.

How does a patient's appointment status from booking to departure?

  • An appointment is booked - At this stage, its status is 'Pending'.

  • The patient confirms - You can send them appointment confirmations, and if the patient replies, their status will update to 'Confirmed'.

  • The patient receives a reminder - You can send appointment reminders, which help to reduce 'Did not attend'.

  • The patient arrives in the practice - Mark them as 'Arrived', which notifies the relevant practitioner. Use the visit panel to manage their appointment and identify actions.

  • The patient goes into their appointment - At this stage, mark them as 'In surgery'.

  • The patient finishes up and leaves - At this point, manually mark the appointment as 'Complete'. This will update automatically after the end of that day, if not done manually.

๐Ÿ“ Please note: If the patient does not arrive for their appointment, they will be marked as 'Did not attend' (or you can do this manually). Find out more about 'Did not attend' appointments here.

Throughout this process, ensure you are updating the appointment status.
