The waiting room is where patients will appear in Dentally when they have been marked as ‘Arrived’ on the calendar.

To access the waiting room, click the clock icon in the left-hand toolbar.

The waiting room will show you which practitioner the patient is visiting, when their appointment is and how long ago they arrived.

If your user is set to the role of Dentist or Hygienist, you will see a red number count on the clock that relates to how many patients are currently waiting for you.

If your user is set to any other role type, no numbers will appear next to clock.

Note 🗒️ If you are a practitioner and one of your patients has arrived, a notification will show in the top right of the screen with an audible noise as well.

If you did not see a notification, make sure you have notifications allowed for Dentally in Google Chrome. Please see the Google Chrome support documents to enable this.

Waitlist grouping

On the waitlist, appointments are grouped so the current user's patients are listed first in the Waiting for You section, and everyone else's are listed afterwards in the Waiting for Others section.

Waiting room details

The following patient details are listed in the waiting list...

  • Patient age

  • Address line 1

  • Post code

  • Appointment reason

  • Treatment description (if applicable)

  • Wait time in minutes

Appointment colour coding

The waiting time is colour-coded:

  • It will show green if the patient arrives before their appointment start time.

  • It will show orange if the patient arrives less than 5 minutes after their appointment start time.

  • It will show red if the patient arrives more than 5 minutes after their appointment start time
