What counts as a denture repair?
A denture repair applies when an existing part of a denture is broken and replaced or repaired, such as:
A clasp
A tooth
A flange
This treatment is always free of charge to the patient, regardless of their paying status/exemption.
📝 Please note: There is no time limit on when a denture can be repaired after the original appliance was made.
How do I submit the claim for a denture repair?
If there is already an open course of treatment (CoT):
Band 3 CoT: The denture repair must be claimed as part of the existing Band 3 CoT.
Band 1 or Band 2 CoT: Submit your current claim as normal, and then make a separate claim specifically for the denture repair. To ensure a denture repair claim is not rejected for 'no banded item,' follow these steps:
Chart the denture repair as its own treatment plan with no other banded items included. Set it as Band 0.
Select the NHS treatment category as 'Denture Repair'.
Do not add any other banded items (eg. exams or assessments) to the claim, as they would generate a patient fee. Only include the denture repair.
Confirm that the UDA value is set to 2 UDAs for a Band 0 denture repair, with no patient charge.
If there is no open CoT:
Submit a new FP17 with the your 'Denture Repair' treatment code charted.
To correctly submit a denture repair claim in Dentally, you must ensure the treatment code is set up correctly. Double-check that both the band and the NHS treatment category are set correctly to avoid rejections. This ensures accurate claim processing and compliance with NHS guidelines.
You will need a Denture Repair treatment code in your treatment list.
This code must be set to Band 0 - this code must be a non-banded treatment.
The NHS Treatment Category must be set to 'Denture Repair'.
Always select the correct NHS treatment category (eg. 'Denture Repair') when charting treatments. This ensures the claim is processed correctly and avoids rejections for missing banded items.
The 2 UDAs are applied automatically based on the NHS Treatment Category. For further clarity, refer to the NHS knowledge base here. For troubleshooting common issues, such as claim rejections for 'no banded item,' verify that the band and NHS treatment category are set correctly. If coding for unique scenarios is unclear, consult NHS resources or support for guidance.
