What is the difference between deleting and cancelling an appointment?

๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: In both instances, you would need to manually contact the patient to confirm that their appointment has been cancelled or deleted.

If you cancel an appointment, it will remove the appointment from the calendar, but a record of the appointment will stay in the patient's 'Appointments' tab, and the status will change to 'Cancelled'. A record of this appointment will be shown in the patient's 'Audit' tab. It can also be retrieved by support even if you don't remember the name of the patient.

Cancelling an appointment can be done in a couple of ways.

If you delete an appointment in the calendar, it will remove the appointment from the calendar and from the patient's 'Appointments' tab. A record of this appointment will be shown in the patient's 'Audit' tab, but it can only be tracked by support if you know the name of the patient. If it was done accidentally and you don't know the patient's name, it cannot be retrieved (in this instance, we'd recommend putting a blank appointment in the calendar so your team are aware in case the patient still attends).

We do not recommend deleting appointments, for these reasons. However if you wish to, to delete an appointment, right click the appointment in the calendar and click 'Delete'.

๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: In both instances, you would need to manually contact the patient to confirm that their appointment has been cancelled or deleted.
