Offline mode allows you to acquire new images for diagnosis when you are not connected to the internet or when there are issues acquiring images online. You can then synchronise those images you acquired offline with your online database once you are connected back to the internet.
How does this work? Offline mode uses a local embedded database - for temporary storage of patient information, metadata, images etc - and an embedded web server - installed as part of the acquisition agent - to provide the offline mode functionality.
The different between acquiring online vs offline
The workflow for acquiring images offline is nearly identical to the online (normal) mode, but note the following differences:
You have to manually start offline mode from the acquisition agent.
You will need to enter a patient's information before acquiring images - so it can sync it to their account in Dentally later.
The billing and provider options are not available, but you will be able to select them during the synchronisation process.
How to acquire images in offline mode
First, you must close all your Chrome browser windows. THIS IS IMPORTANT and it will not work if this is not done first.
You will need to set your acquisition agent to Offline mode:
For Mac - Click the 'Acquisition Agent' on your toolbar, Select 'Acquisition Agent' in the top left and choose 'Start Offline Mode'
For Windows - Right-click on the 'Acquisition Agent' and choose 'Start Offline Mode'


After launching offline mode, a new Chrome browser window will open with Dentally Vision running in offline mode.
To start acquiring images, enter the First name, Last name, and Birth date of the patient you want to acquire images for.
Select whether the patient has Adult dentition or Pediatric dentition.
Click โAcquire Imagesโ to begin.
The options for acquiring images using the standard imaging procedures will then be available.
Choose your procedure and acquire images as normal.
๐ Please note - The billing and provider options are not available while you are using the offline mode, but you select them during the synchronisation process.
When you are finished acquiring the patient's images, click the 'Select Patient' tab at the top to acquire or view images for another patient or simply close the Chrome browser window to end the offline acquisition session if you are ready to go back online.
When you next open Dentally on that machine and log in you will be prompted to go through the synchronisation process - simply follow the steps to import the images you acquired offline.
