Navigating NHS reports is important for managing claims effectively and ensuring timely payments. Two primary tools available in Dentally are the NHS UDA Report and the NHS Claims Report.
While they serve complementary purposes, understanding their differences will help you make the most of these reports ๐
NHS UDA Report
The NHS UDA (Units of Dental Activity) Report provides a high-level overview of claims submitted under NHS contracts. It tracks the number of UDAs awarded based on the completion date of claims, as this is the date when the NHS allocates the UDAs.
Key Features:
Tracks claims by completion date.
Organises claims based on their statuses (Completed, Pending, Error/Invalid, Queried) and individual practitioners.
How to Use:
Access the report via Reports > Financial > NHS UDAs
Set filters to refine the view:
Location (if applicable).
Date range (start and end dates).
Activity type (Can be set as UDA or UOA as needed).
NHS Contract (select specific contract if needed).
Drill down into specific claim statuses by clicking on the corresponding bar in the chart.
To return to the main view, click the Back to UDAs/UOAs button.
Claim Statuses Explained:
Completed: Claims marked as paid; they will appear on the next monthly schedule.
Pending: Claims submitted but awaiting a response (usually processed the next working day).
Error/Invalid: Claims with issues that require correction. These need to be resolved using the NHS Claims Report.
Queried: Claims where the UDAs awarded differ from those claimed. Address these via the NHS Claims Report.
๐ก Top Tip - Use this report to evaluate performance and ensure practitioners meet their NHS targets.
NHS Claims Report
The NHS Claims Report offers a detailed view of individual claims and their statuses. Users can filter this report based on submission date or completion date, depending on the insights they wish to gain.
Key Features:
Filterable by submission date or completion date.
Displays claim statuses and allows for in-depth analysis.
Provides flexibility to track either claims sent over a specific period or claims completed and awarded UDAs during a period.
How to Use:
Access the report via Reports > Treatment > NHS Claims.
Apply filters to pinpoint specific claims:
Status (e.g., Pending, Error/Invalid, Queried).
Practitioner (to view individual performance).
Date range (submission or completion date).
Band.
Contract.
Location.
Report will update automatically so you can address claims requiring action, such as resolving errors or re-submitting queried claims.
๐ก Top Tip - Use submission date filters to track claims sent during a specific period. Use completion date filters to align data closely with the UDA Report.
Differences between the NHS UDA and the NHS Claims reports
Feature | NHS UDA Report | NHS Claims Report |
Focus | Completion date of claims | Submission or completion date (filterable) |
Purpose | Monitoring UDA targets | Managing individual claim statuses |
View | Top-level overview | Detailed claim analysis |
Example of Usage:
If a treatment plan is completed on one date but submitted the following day, the UDA Report will reflect the claim based on the completion date, while the Claims Report will show it under either the submission or completion date, depending on the selected filter.
