Managing your Prior Approval Submission

Once a PA has been submitted you can review its current status in several ways:

  1. Reports - NHS Prior Approvals

  2. Go to the patient and select the NHS tab, then scroll down to look at the Prior Approvals

  3. Go to the treatment plan, select the Submit Prior Approvals button and review what’s there

Prior Approvals Report

You can track Prior Approvals through the system using the Prior Approvals Report.

On this report you can see the status of each Prior Approval submitted. You can filter this report by Practitioner, date and response.

If you hover your mouse over the response, it will give you a more detailed explanation of the errors.

When viewing the Prior Approvals Report, you can use the Ref icon to go immediately to the Prior Approval, or the Patient icon to go to the individual patient's record. Each will open in a new tab.

Patient's NHS Tab

You can see the responses in more detail still from the patient's NHS, Prior Approvals tab.

From the View button, you can quickly go to the Prior Approval for this patient. Here you can see the alert or error and any explanation. You can see the Treatment Plan the Prior Approval refers to and click on the link to go it quickly.

If you are required to upload evidence you do this from the Evidence link you are sent. For help with this see the How to Upload Evidence for Prior Approval webpage

From Prior Approval to Claim

Once the work has been completed and a claim needs to be made, Dentally will automatically copy the reference numbers into the claim. It also copies as much information as possible into the claim to avoid you having to type things in again.
