πŸ’‘ Top tip: Any appointment reasons you create will appear in the dropdown when booking an appointment for a patient. To remove an option from the dropdown, you will need to remove the appointment reason in the diary settings.

How do I create a new appointment reason?

In addition to the pre-defined list of appointment reasons you are able to use in Dentally, you can also add your own.

To do this, you must have Level 4 (Administrator) permissions.

To access your appointment reasons:

  • In Dentally's 'Settings', go to 'Diary'.

  • Select the 'Appointment Reasons' section.

  • Any existing appointment reasons will be displayed here and can be amended or deleted as needed.

To create a new appointment reason:

  • Click the 'New Appointment Reason' button.

  • In the window that appears, complete the fields required:

    • 'Reason' - Type the name/description of the appointment.

    • 'Colour' - Select the colour you wish to be applied to all appointments of this type when in the calendar. Once you have chosen your colour, ensure you click 'OK' before continuing to the other fields.

    • 'Position' - Where the appointment reason will appear in the dropdown list - you may wish to use Position 1 for an appointment reason you use regularly/want easy access to.

    • 'Exam?'/'Hygiene?' - Tick the checkbox if you wish for this appointment reason to trigger recalls.

  • When you have added all the required information, click 'Save'.

  • The appointment reason will now appear in your list and be available from the dropdown when booking an appointment.

To make the appointment reason colours visible when viewing the calendar, click the paintbrush πŸ–ŒοΈ icon at the top of the calendar, and select 'Appointment Reason'. Appointments in the calendar will then show in the colours assigned to their respective appointment reasons.
